incision numbness

It's been 8 months since my TAH. This site and it's amazing members helped me through the healing process. Thank you all. I'm just curious if anyone's incision area still feels numb like mine. I don't noticeably swell anymore, but the area just at the incision is dull/numb. Does this ever go away? Thanks ladies.

my feet aren't pretty...

Hi! It's normal to have incisional numbness. I'm a week away from my 1 yr. anniversary and mine is numb. Not all of it...just different areas of it. Don't worry about it. My boss had her tah 15 years ago and she never regained sensation around her incision. It occurs because your doc had to cut through quite a few nerves.

take care!

incision numbness

Mine is also numb. I think our sister is right, so many nerves were cut or shocked by the surgery it's likely many will never recover. Hope you're terrific otherwise!

thanks!

Thanks Sheila2 & PattyR - I was beginning to worry that something was wrong, so your responses are deeply appreciated. There's strength in numbers!

incision numbness

The numbness is normal. I am 18 months post op from TAH/BSO and my incision area is still numb. My doctor told me that it "may" come back and it "may not". It isn't really bothersome, just feels odd - especially when you scratch that area

incision numbness

My incision is also numb. I almost 5 months post op! I asked my doctor about the numbness at my 6 week check-up. He felt that it could take up to 6 months to get the feeling back and if it wasn't back by then it more than likely won't be coming back. It feels weird doesn't it?

incision numbness

Hi. I am 10 yrs. post complete and my incision is STILL numb for the most part. You just get used to it. It's no big deal to me but I hope yours comes back if it bothers you. Good luck.

incision numbness

Totally normal !
I had my LAVH 3 years ago ( there's only 2 )
1/2 inch scars on my bikini line that I do have sensation back in.
However, I have a 4 inch scar at lower abdomen from an ovarian cyst that ruptured 14 years ago & required immediate surgery. With this one, I never got back feeling !
I think it depends where the cut is & how many nerves your surgeon has to cut through !
Try not to worry, someday you may get used to it being numb if it stays that way ! Take care !
