Bone cancer and osteoperosis?

My mother had bone cancer. She died when she was 47. She had breast cancer when she was 43 as well. My question is...With the higher risk of osteoperosis for us hyster sisters, is there a stronger risk for those of us with bone cancer in our families?

Hi Ramona I haven't seen anything linking menopause specifically to bone cancer. What I did find was lots of info about cancer of the bone which is actually metastatic breast cancer that can be influenced by hormones. However, that would not actually be considered bone cancer, since it didn't originate in the bones - it would be considered breast cancer that had *traveled*, or 'secondary' bone cancer.

Have you talked with your DR about your specific risks? It's a very tough decision when you're trying to weigh your risks, osteoporosis versus various types of cancer or cardiovascular conditions.

I have spoken to my doctor about my breast cancer concerns, but not about bone cancer. I believe my mother just did not ever get completely rid of the breast cancer. I appreciate your imput.
