anyone had abdominal surgery prior?

I was wondering if anyone of you had Endo and have had abdominal surgery to remove cysts, endo tissue, etc.? I am sched for TAV on 8/1 and am wondering if my pain is from adhesions from the previous surgery or if it could be Endo? I know adhesions don't show up on scans or mri's but should endometrial tissue, chocolate cysts, etc show up?

Hi Sue,
Sounds like we may be drifting in the same boat. See my post on the message board for "post" op titled "calling all multi surgery / endo sisters". Just posted today 7/21/05.

Just had my most recent OR 7/18

This time around had open laparoscopy with removal of ovarian mass (looked like either hemorrhagic cyst or endometrioma with hemorrhagic spots in it per gyne but gotta wait till next week for biopsy results) and repair of umbilical hernia at old lap site. They did the open laparoscopy going in partly because of the hernia repair and partly because they didn't know whether there would be lots of adhesions or anything like that since I've had multiple surgeries before. Gyne told me before releasing me 7/19 though that in spite of all my surgeries, that I looked "nice and clean inside" and the only place I had any scarring or adhesions at all was WAAAAAY up near my old gallbladder scar.

Previous surgeries included: emergency appendectomy 6/1983, emergent cholecystectomy due to blocked bile duct (nonlaparoscopic) 10/1985, removal uterus and cervix vaginally with repair bladder and bowel prolapses using pelvic sling (tacked to pubic bone with own muscles) technique 4/1991, and laparoscopic removal left ovary/tube and resected right ovary/tube due to serous cystadenoma 6/2003.
