What If I've Lifted Something Heavy?
I'll be four weeks post op on the 28th of this month and yesterday, my father [who lives with my sister and I] was griping, moaning, and complaing about his power chair being outside. He wanted it inside. We don't have a ramp and the only way to get it inside was to roll it to the front porch and then 'lift' it inside. I don't know how many people have lifted these things, but they are not light. My sister couldn't lift by herself, and my father refused to help her, so I had to pitch in and help. After we finally got it inside, it seemed that my incision was burning, but I wasn't bleeding anywhere. A few hours later, I started having jabbing pains in my lower abdomen. Anybody with an idea how much I screwed up?

Thanks, manwhatever77, for responding. After I did that, I informed both my sister and father that for the rest of my recovery time, I am doing NOTHING but what I'm supposed to do. Period.

Cruecial - sounds like a plan... if your belly is still hurting in the morning give the doc a call and see what they say... better safe than sorry...
Take the time to be pampered and such - lifting now will be more painful later if you end up with surgery down the road...

What If I've Lifted Something Heavy?
Heard from the doctor's nurse yesterday and she said the pain I was experiencing was actually 'healing' pain since it was intermittent and not constant. She said if I developed a fever or if the pain grew worse, to call them. I go back to the doctor on the 8th of August for my six week checkup, and she said to confess to the doctor what I did, and he would give me a thorough once over. I felt better after speaking with her, because I sure thought I had done something baaaaaaaaaad. Moments like these make me think of my mother and childhood spankings for being a bad girl!

Crucial,
It seems to me like you felt like darned if you did or darned it you didn't. Is this really about being a bad girl to your dad or your doc? Please don't worry about being a good girl for anybody! Take care of yourself!

What If I've Lifted Something Heavy?
Well, my dad is 85 and the poor man is regressing into a childlike state, and it is a darned if I do...darned if I don't kind of thing both to my dad and to my doctor, I suppose. But since I pulled that little stunt, my father has been really nice to me and I have been exceptionally lazy at the house.
