no cancer in my lymph nodes!

hello ladies,

i posted here awhile back, but due to extreme personal emotional turmoil, i stayed away for some time. i apologize for that.

i had my TAH/RSO (LSO was done earlier) on july 19th. no complications from surgery. i was (am still?) diagnosed with endometrial cancer and endometriod type cancer of the ovaries.

and i have some good news. neither cancer has spread to my lymph nodes, bowels, or anywhere else she was able to check during surgery. i do not yet know if anything was found in the washings that my gyn oncologist completed, that had to go out to a lab, but at least i know it has not spread to any other location she was able to biopsy during surgery.

i may find out tomorrow, when i get my staples removed, if there were cancer cells in the washings or not. i am very worried about this, but not as worried as i was before knowing it wasn't in my lymph nodes, too.

i would likely need a six month course of chemo (once a month) if there are cells in the washings. i likely do not require radiation for the endometrial cancer as that was caught extremely early. but anything is possible, right?

so that's my update.

i hope today finds you all well.

take care please.

love, catherine

no cancer in my lymph nodes!

Catherine, this is terrific news. I'm so happy for your good report. The earlier the cancer is found the greater the chance you will never recur. And as a felllow two-for-oner I know how hard it is to worry not just about one cancer coming back, but two of them.

Go and celebrate — but don't pop any staples!

no cancer in my lymph nodes!

Hi Catslippers !!

Great news !! What a relief it must be for you.

I'm in NH and had a TAH/BSO for endometrial adenocarcinoma 11/15/04, left me with 2 seromas, one of which was aspirated, the other is loculated and draining on its own. Just finished up on my radiation treatments. They gave me a vaginal dialator and I'm suppose to use it for a minimum of 1 year, possibly for life. Is anyone else using one of these ? I don't totally understand the reasoning behind it and it's a pain to remember to use it every day but compared to having my life, it's something I'll have to get use to.

It's now almost August and I'm still draining. I had a PET Scan 2 weeks ago and was told there are no metabolicaly active cells, nothing in my lymph nodes which are englarged. That's why they ordered the PET Scan. I'm elated, feeling great and getting ready for gastric bypass surgery soon.

The bright side is I feel great, wished I had done the hyster years ago and sooooooooooooooooooooo glad no more heavy bleeding, clots and cramping. The only side effect I still have is tiredness. I've always been anemic and desperately needed sleep the 4 years they told me the cancer had been growing. Still tired but would do it again in a heartbeat.

Catherine, I feel as if I know you. When you hear those words, that there's nothing in the lymph nodes, there's no better feeling ! God bless, Ava

no cancer in my lymph nodes!

Thta's great news about the nodes, bowels, etc. I'd be jumping for joy. Now when those washings come back negative--order yourself some flowers abd chocolate or prepare for a big credit card assault later on.

no cancer in my lymph nodes!

my goodness i have a lot to learn about the jargon of having cancer! i'm starting my crash course, though.

so new to all of this. diagnosed in late may with the ovca, then so rapidly through, adding the endometrial, the hysterectomy, waiting for the biopsies of everything else, etc.

thank you for all of the support and happy words.

the washings HAVE come back. negative. i am thrilled about that... at the same time as being freaked about it. i am having my first round of chemotherapy tomorrow morning.

eeek. again i am just brand new to this and have not ever had chemo before. fear of the unknown.

i am going to do a new post about that bit. i hope you don't mind.

i hope you are all well today, hope it's a gorgeous day out your way, and that at least one good thing happens for each of us today. at least one.

take care please.

love, catherine
