Post op incision bleeding due to hematoma

I am going insane. I had to have a shot of hepron(anti clotting med) preop. I have suffered massive bruising. And now my incision is open on one side and bleeding, alot. My doc says I just have to keep draining and wait for it to heal. Other than that I am ready to start back to my normal life. but I cant due to blood saturating all of my clothes. My surgery was July the 18th . Anyone else with this problem?

You can't resume your normal life with an open incision. What in the world can your dr be thinking? You need to be extra careful that you don't develop an infection or worse.

Take good care of yourself. Pamper yourself and allow yourself time to heal properly. And call that dr if you need him. You are no where close to being out of the woods yet.

My incision opened up 8 days post - and I have home care coming in every other day to change the dressing... they make sure it isn't getting infected or such... and it will take time to heal...

Being not even 2 weeks post - you still have a LOT of healing to do - take it easy and talk to your doc about controlling the healing and such...

I, too, am bleeding from the incision. Mine is a yellow/orange/red color that does not smell. I went to Drs and he took a culture, but said he did not think it was infected. He said it was good to let it drain on its own time.
It sure is annoying. Sometimes I get up or roll to the side and suddenly my clothes are soaked. I have to change the sheets often - no laundry huh?? Not possible to avoid it for me!

Thank you so much for responding to me. I thought I was losing my mind. My bleeding seems to be slowing somewhat I change my dressing about 5 times a day. It is truly annoying. Iknow that acceptance is what I needed and to know I wasnt alone.l Thank you so much sincerely Birtlover

My homecare puts something on it that can absorb all the drainage - a cloth that turns to gel and also a drain pad that can hold up to 10x's it weights... then a gauze on top and then tape... no messy clothes or beds for me... and mine is almost closed now - I am going every 3 days from now on and will likely only be doing it a few more times...
