vaginal packing

Hi
I had a lavh on 6/10 and I did not have any vaginal packing. But reading alot of others experinences they are mentioning vaginal packing. I was curious what is the reason for that and is there others that didnt have this?

Thanks

vaginal packing

Hi,
Every doctor seems to have different ways of doing things. I suspect this question is based on the exact type of surgery and how much bleeding. Some women have packing but the doctor removes it while they're still doped up on pain medicine so she doesn't realize she even had it.

vaginal packing

I had vaginal packing that was removed the morning after surgery. I actually never felt it being in there. It was quite a lenghty piece of gauze that my dr. pulled out! I thought she'd never stop! As I understand, it may be to stop the bleeding post op. Some doctors use it and some don't. Depends on their methods, I suppose!

I also had it, but it was removed the day after surgery It seemed like one of those magician scarf tricks, where the scarf keeps going on and on! It appeared discolored from the yellow (betadine??) solution they use to disinfect things with, but no blood and no pain from pulling it out.

vaginal packing

I had vaginal packing--I thought it had to do with the fact that I had a TVH, but I could be wrong. I did not feel it at all while it was in--didn't even know it was there.

Looking back, having it removed was probably the most hilarious moment of my entire castle stay. It's like taking out one of those Tampax tampons (the ones that expand lengthwise instead of getting wider). Except it just kept coming and coming and coming! Didn't hurt a bit, it was just the weirdest thing I've ever felt down there!

My doctor called it a "Texas tampon" when he removed the packing later in the day of my surgery. I was pretty doped up so there was no pain, it was just a funny deal to have done. I thought it would never end!
