bowel symptoms with fibroids

I know fibroids can cause constipation. I wouldn't say I am constipated (I would define that as a hard large stool) but it is just hard to have a bowel movement and then when I do, I feel like I still have more to go but can't. Also (pardon me if I am grossing anyone out) the stool is flat on one side as if the colon is being compressed somewhere. There is never any blood in the stool and the stool is soft formed. Has anyone else experienced this symptom with fibroids? (I have multiple fibroids, the largest being about 10 cm diameter and the uterus is the size of a 16 week pregnancy).

Yup! Been there, still there!

I am having a very hard time with this lately - and eventually, it does turn into true constipation..at least that's what I am going through now. I have found that if you use a stool softener, then it does help a lot (even if your stools are already kinda soft). And not to sound like a wierdo or anything, but if you can sit all the way back on the toilet and relax and then move up, kinda like your getting ready to do a sit up, it helps to move the stool a little more. At least that works for me sometimes. Another thing you can do is breath out as much as you can through your mouth as apposed to "grunting" or pushing. It relaxes your muscles a little more.

Hope that's helped you a little bit in some way.
