sex before 6 week check

I am 5 weeks post op and having terrilbly strong desire to be sexual it is driving me nuts. I am having orgasms sitting on my couch watching t.v. Is it safe to start having intercourse now or do I have to wait for my next post op appointment. That won't be until 8 weeks out. I really don't think I can wait any longer. The bad part is that the orgasms or coming from watching reruns of CSI. No that is not a turn on for me. I have beeen in contact with my OB and I am not getting any answers on even what I can do to slow the urge until next appointment. My other half is also getting frustrated from the lack of touch.

sex before 6 week check

Hi, jamaica!

I'm sorry that you're finding the "no sex" doctor's order hard to comply with, but it's very important that you wait until your doctor releases you. Certainly there are women on this site who have had sex prior to the six week release, but no one can say that this would be safe for you. It's very important that you follow your doctor's orders. You don't want to jeopardize your healing and possibly have to have additional surgery to repair damage done by having sex too soon.

There is an article which discuss why it's important to wait and another which talks about post-op libido. They are #44 and #45 from the Post-Op Articles.

Wait for that call from your doctor, and in the meantime, maybe you should turn off the tv.

Hi Jamaica,
Like April Dawn told you it is not safe to resume sex until you have been examined by your doctor.

But I wanted to tell you to be thankful that your desire is so strong after your surgery. I read on your survey that you did not keep your ovaries. Are you already on HRT?

I do not have my ovaries and I am not on HRT for 6 months. My libido used to be high, but now it seems to be lacking tremendously. I hope that once I start HRT it will improve.

Good luck and don't do anything that might jeopardize your recovery. Just think about how great it will be once you're released for sexual activity. It will be worth the wait and you'll be glad you did.

Somewhere on this board there are horror stories of what can happen if you have sex too soon. If you read it you will no doubt lose your desire. It's not worth the risk. Wait until you see your doctor, it won't kill you.

My doc cleared me for "outercourse" at 3 weeks. So we could play around but no intercourse for 6 weeks.

Jamaica....what ever you're taking...lemmie know!! lol. I wouldn't do the intercourse for 6 weeks...heal right the first time is the best bet. And the way it sounds...you're going to do DH some damage when you do get ahold of him, so it's best to wait...

sex before 6 week check

Jamaica,
I too have orgasms just sitting watching TV...I am just past my two week point and going crazy sexually as well. Hubby and I have done outercourse too help relieve frustration...you might try that and then you both are somewhat satisfied and left feeling more connected to one another. Whatever you do don't give in to the urge and risk messing something up on the inside...it would not be worth it. By the way Dr. told me that one of his patients had sex at 2 week point and ended up in ER due to prolapse of the intestines through vagina! Be careful girlfriend!

I had a prolapse of the intestine through the vagina. I waited my 6 weeks and my doctor cleared me. I would suggest you wait the 6 weeks have your doctor check you and than have the doctor check you again.
