swollen & tender in pubic area

Hi, I'm 5 1/2 weeks post-op (abdom hyst)and my pubic -bone area is still very puffy & tender. Is this usually the case? I suppose it was an area that I didn't usually spend much time looking at so now it looks kinda strange! Any sisters out there who can help?

I am just short of 3 weeks I have the same problem, I have a personel problem what are you wearing when you go our, because I can't stand anything touching me. Do granny panties work as a seperator or do I just bear it? thank you for your input.

I hope besides the pubic being swollen you both are doing great.

i too am experiencing soreness and don't even THINK about touching me there or making me bump into something-wow! it's like all the numbness wore off from the dentist's office and now i feel the after math. but just around the top of where my staples were and just under the incision. still puffy and uncomfortable when i walk without my belly band. my swelly belly is actually DOWN but just in the area of topic is where i'm still puffy. i'm 2 weeks 3 days post op-surviving at it's best! you're not alone!

swollen & tender in pubic area

It has been my experience that the pubic area can swell quite a bit after abdominal surgery. Mine has. I had abdominal surgery 11 months ago and all my swelling in that area had been long gone. HOWEVER, since my Vaginal HYST a little over 6 weeks ago, I have once again swollen in the pubic area as well as in the abdomen again. I think it's from the shock of yet more surgery to my body and the disturbance of all my innards. I'm on another board and they call this the "Ken Doll Syndrome" (for obvious reasons). I am hoping it goes down again very soon since it sure is no fun having it back. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot to do to get rid of it. Once your body heals, it seems to go away. It takes some people the better part of a whole year for all swelling to go away and some people (like me) have it mostly gone by no later than 3 months post-op. I think treating it like other injury swelling is probably most helpful (I was told ice on swelling for 15 minutes on and then 15 minutes off as needed.) Hope "Ken" leaves us all ASAP!

swollen & tender in pubic area

I am 3 weeks post-op and from the incision to the pubic area is still tender. It really flares up at night or if underwear is on. I am still at home so the freedom is great. Also now that the hair is trying to grow back it hurts worse. Thanks for the suggestion of ice for 15 minutes.

Fellow swellers

I am 6days post-op. Tenderness and pressure in that area is pretty intense, I believe it's normal as someone else posted with abd. surgery. I had previous abdominoplasty and remember "ken syndrome" being very common with that procedure. I am more concerned with no signal to void other than pain and pressure. The inability to comletely empty bladder worries me
