sore throat

I am starting to get a sore throat. My surgery is scheduled for April 2. I was wondering if any one had any ideas of what I could take so I do not have to postpone the surgery the waiting is already driving me crazy.

I find that taking zinc cold tablets at the first signs of a sore throat really helps. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids as they tend to dry out your mouth. Good luck!

Check with your dr. to see what you can take. Be careful of OTC meds. Even Echinacea can cause your surgery to be canceled. It's better to take something your doctor approves. Hope you feel better.

sore throat

I had the same problem and it got worse, it went to my chest. Went to the DD. It was a virus. Gave me cough med. and told me to rest, drink lots of liquids. I did take extra zinc and have tried to stay away from large groups of people. I think I'm well now. I go in on 3-28. Went to pre-op today. My DD took and x-ray and did an EKG, just to be on the safe side. Soooooooooo..... if I can stay well til then, its a go!!
PS. Also took decongestant.
Good Luck!

dchinson,

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. Your wait will soon be over. Hang in there.

valerie b - PLEASE don't take any kind of meds without consulting your doctor first. I was given a whole list of meds and vitamins that I wasn't allowed to take within 2 weeks of surgery. So please consult your doctor before continuing to take anything.
