I posted a few wks ago--I had my surgery(m)

I had a complex cyst and had my gyn do the surgery with a gyn/onc on stand by. He wasn't needed. The cyst was an endometrioma (chocolate cyst) that was embedded into my pelvic wall. My surgeon couldn't save my ovary or tube. I also had other endo implants that were removed. I'm glad to have surgery behind me.

I do have a question about hormones. I'm not normally a crier but I've been so emotional since the surgery. Can losing one ovary put me in such a hormonal mess? I literally was reading the paper and laughing at an article and the next sec I bursted into tears over a passing thought that quickly. I've been up and down since surgery and it isn't normal for me.

I've had some problems "going" too. The first time was painful, the second attempt wasn't much to speak of and I'm having terrible gas pains still. I do get tired easily. I'm doing what I can and luckily I have my mom who can help and my MIL is cooking for us.

I guess my main question is, is this normal to be so emotional?
TIA

I'd say "yes!" it's normal to be so emotional after 1) having an ovary removed as it does upset the hormonal balance in your body and 2) after surgery, anesthesia, and just the general major scare you have had. I'd call the doctor for reassurance that you aren't falling into a depression or something, and see what he has to say. Maybe the doc would consider hormone replacement therapy? It may be what your body needs. Please call the doc and discuss your feelings.

I am so glad that your cyst was not cancerous!

Good luck, and hang in there!

Hi,
I am so glad you did not need the gyn/onc andyou are cancer free. You may also consider posting in Post-op re being "emotional" after this surgery which can be quite normal given the hormonal changes; pls remember you also had initial fears re possible cancer, etc. Discussing these problems (both emotional and physical ones) with your doctor is important too and would suggest you do so soon.
I hope you get back to feeling more yourself soonest; wishing you an easy, complications free recovery.
