Taking massive amounts of estrogen, still not enough!

Hi, ladies.
I'm taking high doses of the bio-identicals, plus self-medicating with leftover Cenestin. Yesterday my dr (Yes, she knows about the Cenestin self-medicating.) informed me that the bio-identicals pharmacist refuses to up the dose of estrogen - he thinks that I'm taking too much already, even without the Cenestin.
I'm having the whole gamut of symptoms - hot flashes, weepy, dry vagina, fatigue, dry skin, night sweats, lost words. How can I possibly be taking too much estrogen?!?!?
So, question: Does anyone know whether there is anything that interferes with the absorption of estrogen?
My next plan is to go kidnap this man pharmacist and subject him to hot flashes. I do have a very large oven.

Oompahloompah! Love that name .... Ompahloompah dompity dee if your pharm is wise he'll listen to thee! OK, couldn't help that.

Seriously, I'm sorry to hear the estrogen you are receiving is not absorbing. What form are you on? E1, E2, E3? Pills, trouche, cream, patch? Are you on progesterone or testosterone?

That info might help the knowledgable ladies here direct you to some info on absorbtion.

I have the same problem. I was on estrogen in the last year and gradually my body just quit absorbing it. I was also taking large amount of Cestin, and then Premarin. I'm waiting for my doctor to call me with a name of a specialist so they can figure it out and I will be myself again. Good Luck

I would talk with your doctor and pharmacist about changing the method of delivery. Perhaps you're not absorbing this particular method well. Compounded hormones come in many forms; pills, time released capsules, creams, gels, sublinguals and drops.

I had problems absorbing both creams and gels. Injections were working ok, but not great. Now I'm on pellets and they are working great.

Are you taking Nexium or something similar? Those types of drugs affect absorption of other drugs. I ended up with a B-12 deficiency after using Nexium for more than three years. The doctor has me on B-12 shots now because I can't get by without the nexium.
I'm using vivelle patches for my estrogen and they work great for me.
Good luck.

Would Protonix (for acid reflux) affect the absorption of a compound cream?

I have read here on more than one occasion that sisters had to use the patch because the bio-identical creams were not strong enough for them. Everyone's needs are different.

I used Estrace tabs and cream after my hyst. When Estrogel came out my doc wanted me to try it. I started having major problems and he tested my hormones and found I wasn't absorbing it for some reason. Went back to the tabs and cream and felt better.

And there's one sister who found the only thing that worked for her was compounded to absorb under her tongue. And quite a few women use some kind of vaginal form (cream or est-ring) plus a systemic.
