HRT and no ovaries or birth control pills and cystic ovaries?

I am scheduled for my LAVH on March 30 and the current plan is for me to keep my ovaries, even though cystic ovaries is one of my multiple problems. (I'm 33 years old.) My doctor put me on birth control pills and they seem to have helped the ovary problem, but I hate the pills! I have no sex drive WHATSOEVER, and my DH hates that even more than I do. If I have to take BCP forever (and there's no guarantee they'll work forever) what's the difference if I have the ovaries removed and go on HRT? Any advice?

Keeping your ovaries or not is always a tough decision. Especially at age 33. I wanted to keep mine - but they were so destroyed by endo. I decided to have them removed. I would read as much as you can and talk to as many people as you can. There are hormones to help with the libido problems. Cystic ovaries cause their own set of problems.

Time to have a "sit down" with your doctor. Make sure he outlines all the pros of taking them out or leaving them. Good luck to you.
