Does this mean I'm not healing right?

At my one week postop appt the doc told me I would have some discharge at around the 2 week postop mark. I am 4 weeks postop today and I still haven't had any discharge at all. Does this mean my internal sutures aren't healing properly? I'm not due to see the doc for another 2 weeks.

Other than the usual complaints (trouble sleeping, getting tired easily, etc) this is the only real "problem" I've had since surgery and right now I don't even know if it IS a problem. If anybody has any answers, they would be greatly appreciated.

I had a TAH, and I've never had any discharge (just a bit immediately after surgery). According to my dr, I've healed just fine. I've resumed all activties, including ones that involve DH, and everything is good.

I've heard that some women don't have discharge.

I had a TAH one week ago and I'm with Tina on this one..my discharge has stopped as my doc's said it would. They said it would keep getting less after surgery and eventually stop and to only be worried if it didn't... maybe you should double check with your doc about this.

My doctor didn't mention anything about having discharge at 2 weeks. She just said there'd be discharge afterwards, and that it would decrease and could stop at any time from 1 to 4 or more weeks - varies from person to person. As it was, I only had a bit for the first 5 days, and that's been it.

I only had some discharge for 3 or 4 days after surgery, then nothing. I didn't have any problems with healing.

Sounds like you're on your way to a good recovery.

I have had very light discharge since surgery--not even enough to need a panty liner. My dr had said I "may" have a discharge, and it would be normal. I had a 3-week checkup last Thursday, and he said everything looked great.

Janet,
I had some minimal discharge the first few days and then nothing for three weeks, at that point it was a thick white discharge for two days. That was just this past weekend. Then last night I had bright red blood with a little clotting too! Does this sound normal to anyone? I go for my 4 wk check-up on Wednesday. By the way the bright red blood only last for like 10 min. and then turned to yucky brown discharge which I still have.

I never had the first bit of discharge. I kept expecting it, but never had any.

When I went for my 4 week check up, I was healed very well and released for all my normal activities.
