Hysterversary #1
Today is my first hysterversary. I can't believe it's been a year. Despite all the complications I had after surgery which resulted in being off work for 6 months, I really am glad I had the surgery. My blood counts are back to normal, no more need to take iron supplements, no more life revolving around heavy and painful periods. Those of you about to have surgery or in the early weeks and months of recovery, there is complete healing down the road. Any other August 2004 hystersisters out there? How are you doing?

Wooohooooo This is my first Hysterversary
Hi Ladies,
I have my old self back and loving it. No more pain. No more missing out on life because of the heavy periods and paniful cramps. The surgery change my life for the better. I am 36 years old and even my kids find it hard to keep up with me. I just want to wish all my sisters that are going thru what I went thru a speady recovery back into living life. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I also would like to thank everyone for all the wonderful support given to me from this site.
Thank you and God Bless

Happy Hysterversary!!
On, 8/12/2004--and exactly 1 minute I was talking to the anesthesiologist and 4 hours later I was tearfully rolled to recovery....Today, 8/12/2005 I think WOW was that just last year!! I've been through so much, I've learned even more about myself. Tenacity, patience, endurance and care of self....lifelong lessons all from having my surgery!! If anyone reads this who is about to have surgery or has just had surgery the road seems long, but with time and tender care of yourself and your spirit you will heal and you will have a newness in life that only you can describe. I am more woman now than I was a year and a day ago....I am wise. Happy Anniversary to all who celebrate life as it should be!!!

1st anniversary and doing great!
August 12th last year I was in the operation room and more happy than nervous about the operation. Couldn't wait to say goodbye to the painful periods and being uncomfortable sitting down with my multiple fibroids jockeying for positions down there. Of course nothing compares to a doctor's knowledge and advice, but the Hystersisters' advice put it all in layman's terms for me and I knew I wasn't alone. That knowledge, some beginner's meditation and positive thinking got me through it all with minimal pain and quick healing. Still having hot flashes (kept one ovary), but they are managable and I will take those over the horrible painful periods I had even in my 50s.

Hysterversary #1
Just passed my 1 year anniversary! What a wonderful thing to have done! I feel great - No more periods, cramps, getting up to pee at night and best of all... I haven't had a migraine since the second month, Amazing. I didn't even think a hyst would help with those.

One year for me too in August. Not having heavy periods every two weeks, or worrying about another bout of huge clots and contractions is wonderful! I recently toured Italy for two weeks and counted those blessings every day. Hot flashes and night sweats disappeared somewhere after six months. A few minor personal concerns, but wouldn't go back for the world. I'm 52 and looking forward to working only part time next year and enjoying life.

Hi, ladies!
My hyst was August 20th last year. I've enjoyed sharing posts with many of you, journaling. This site has been a neverending source of comfort and joy during the year. I've formed friendships with some amazing women. Every question was responded to with compassion, understanding and I never felt afraid to ask!
I can't believe my uterus is gone! Kept my cervix and ovaries. Don't miss the periods. I was able to quit taking reflux meds because I'm not overloaded with painkillers all the time. My energy level is great and life goes on!! Just a few minor irritations to deal with, but I imagine approaching menopause would bring them anyway.
My migraines are as bad as ever. Kind of wish I'd let the ovaries go, too. I see that has helped some of you. What do you think about that? I didn't want to give them up at the time.
 s Dylli

1 Year Today
One year today! I have to admit I can't believe how much better I feel, more energized, can wear any color Pants I want! No more leaking bladder due to pressure...I feel great. No matter how bad it is girls, just hang in there, it is worth it down the road. I kept both ovaries, so no problems yet with menopausal symptoms. This website helped me so much, I will never forget the support and advice I found here.

Congratulations!
This is my first 'hysterversary'. I have lost 30 pounds since then and made some major lifestyle changes. I'm spending less time in front of the tube and instead reading, enjoying my family and friends, gardening, journaling and all around experiencing my 'new' life. It's a great feeling to finally be in charge of my life rather than my life being in charge of me.
