yellow discharge

Hi Girls,
I have been having yellow discharge (sometimes orangey) for the las couple months. Finally went to the doc and she said it was probably a bacterial vaginosis and prescribed an antibiotic called Metronnidazole for a week. I have been on it for 6 days and there is no difference. I am worried. Have any of you experienced this so long after your hysterectomy - Feb 2000.
Looking forward to hearing from you and thankyou.
Elle.

yellow discharge

Hi
I would go back to your Dr if it is not clearing up. I have been on many rounds of antibotics for a similar situation. The important thing is for the Dr to look at the discharge under microscope and do some other quick tests (pH etc) and send out for cultures. It turned out I have something unusual; no bacteria but lots of inflammation and immature cells sloughing off causing the yellow discharge. I wonder how rare this is after reading many posts here. It is not the first thing Drs would look for. The lastest treatment I am taking is clindomycin (aka cleocin) with hydrocortisone vaginally. This seems to be working, finally, after more than 6 weeks of dealing with these symptoms. Treatments with antibiotics upset the normal flora and you get into a difficult cycle to break, especially if the antibiotic isn't effective against the real problem.
Let us know how you are doing.

yellow discharge

Hi,

I had yellow discharge from unhealed vaginal cuff and was treated in the office with silver nitrate. I would definitely go back and see dr if your present treatment is not working.

yellow discharge

Hi!
Elle, I'm having uggly discharge almost 2 years after my total hyst. Mine is caused by scar tissue, my doc. used silver nitrate to treat it. If you have some dull abdominal pain, this could be the cause. Of course I would go back to the doctor.

yellow discharge

Thank you Erika,
I am still having discharge and it is sometimes darker than yellow. And I noticed that when I have a bowel movement it hurts and stings and then it is sort of bleeding for a little while (out of the vigina). I feel like the vigina is coming out. Is that a possibility?
I just got home from the airport, I was away for 5 days and my doc is away for 2 weeks so I am going to the walkin clinic and asking to be referred to a gyno.
I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has experienced this. By the way sex has been very painful for the last year or so. So consequently this isn't much.
Thank you all you lovely gals,
Elle.

Hi Elle,
Sorry to hear that you are not feeling any better. Your symptoms are very similar to mine, but I just realized that your surgery was 5 years ago, so it’s unlikely that inflamed scar tissue would cause your pain and discharge. It is really hard to tell, could be inflammation, bladder infection, there are so many possibilities for us to cause pain, lucky girls! My hyst. was almost 2 years ago and I don’t even remember what it’s like to live without aches and pains, or depression. Sex? never mind…nonexistent.
Glad that you are going to the clinic, with your symptoms really does not sound like a good idea to wait…. Let us know what you find out. Hope you’ll feel better soon!
Erika
