Not only do I feel bruised there but also all around my privates/pub. area. I'm assuming that it is so swollen and tender still (2-27 TAH) that I need more time, but boy is it all tender ! My belly is swelly and grins from pelvic bone to pelvic pone. Thighs ache and feel beat up.
Anyone else experience this?

What's up w/ all of this bruised feeling in legs and abdomen??
Hi Reina,
I also had a TAH/LSO, and it took quite a long time for my tenderness to taper off. At 7 months post-op I had an exam by my regular Dr., and as he felt around my abdomen, I flinched a little. He looked puzzled, and I explained that I was 7 months post-TAH, but that I had learned that it takes from 6 months to a year to heal completely. He replied, "Then you still have a ways to go!" At nearly 9 months post-op, the tenderness is now pretty much gone.
You have had LOADS of internal stitches that have reattached all your uterus' supportive ligaments to other parts of you in there.
Remember, it does indeed take from 6 months to a year to heal completely from this MAJOR surgery, so don't be surprised if progress is slow. It WILL get better. The more rest you get now, the faster you'll heal.
My very best to you...
Linda

Bruised and Tender, that's it
All opinions stated below are my own and are not intended as medical advice.
Hi Reina
Good to have you back, even in your bruised and tender state. But you've got it, those are the sensations. I'm 8 weeks post and I still feel bruised and tender, and it doesn't feel like it's going to go away real soon. Don't get me wrong, I'm not like I was two weeks ago even, but it still does get in the way of doing *everything* I'd like to do.
Hang in, it just gets better and better. But you'll surely have reminders of the castle for a very long time.

What's up w/ all of this bruised feeling in legs and abdomen??
Renia,
I had a TAH (everything including my appendix) on 2/13/1, so I am approaching 6 wks. post op. I still feel the same bruising you do; however, with each passing week it gets better. Sometimes I feel like someone has beaten up my entire abdomen area, and then there are other times when I feel like my whole "bottom" is going to drop out. But motrin does alleviate the uncomfortableness. Hang in there! It does get better with time.
We're all healing and recovering with you.

Thanks to all 3 of you
I do feel a little bit better today. I'm taking it very easy, sometimes I wonder if I'm being too easy on my healing. Tomorrow will be my 4 week anniv. post op.

bruised feeling
I know exactly how you feel! I had bruises 2-3 weeks later appearing. Remember you were probably lifted and turned while asleep, and an asleep body is harder to move than the helpful patient. Also, I was told by my plastic surgeon (TAH/BSO and tuck) that gravity draws the swelling to the pubic area, and at 7 weeks, I'm still a little swollen there.
Not to be gross, but if you ever watch the medical shows, they are kinda rough during surgery. I have the horizontal hip to hip incision, but the GYN used a smaller incision to start andremove organs. I had to be turned for the spinal after the general was administered, and to be put on a bed for recovery. The insides of my legs and shoulders ached for a few weeks.
The incision will be tender as the nerves heal, and skin itself heals from downwards, upwards. I wasn't allowed to start my regular routine till 6 weeks, and I still rest after activity. You need to take good care of yourself, don't let anyone rush you in your healing. I was told I have to give myself a year, so hard as it is, I limit myself and rest a lot. Take care!
