Pre-Cancer Cells In Cervix????

I was woundering if any here, has any info. on pre cancer cells being in cervix? I have posted on the other boards for myself but mostly I just read. Hope some of you have some info on this.
My daughter who is 21 years of age was just diagnosed with pre cancer cells in cervix, she is also 3 months pregnant, does precancer cells mean there are definately cancer there,or just a possibility of her getting it. I plan on talking to her DD Monday,I have loads of questions for him.
Hope there is someone who might have some insight on this.

Pre-Cancer Cells In Cervix????

Hi there Lindsay, last April ,2000 I was diagnosed with pre cancerous cells on my cervix, CIN 3, which is the stage just before cancer. Mine was first treated with a biopsy and leep procedure and it was found that it was at the aggressive stage so i opted for a hysterectomy in August 2000. My gynocologist said that mine would have definately progressed to cancer if it had not been treated . I am not sure of the procedure if your daughter is pregnant, she must be very informed before making any decision. Write lots of questions down . One I would be asking is what stage are the precancerous cells at there are CIN 1, 2 and 3 . If you can email me and let me know I have an article that my dr. published that tells you a little about each stage. Hope this has been of some help and that your daughter is ok. Love to her x x And to you as well x x

Pre-Cancer Cells In Cervix????

Hi, Lindsey!

This must be a very stressful time for you and your daughter--I'm so sorry. Pregnancy is supposed to be a happy time! But take a deep breath. Pre-cancer cells are just that--PRE cancer. I've done a lot of reading (since that's what I had) and there's lots of good internet info out there. But if it's precancer, it hasn't invaded any of the important tissue yet. Fifteen years ago I had precancerous cells and my doctor did several procedures, including a cone biopsy (which removes all of the inside of the cervix) and a D&C--they can't do that during a pregnancy, however. It seemed to clear all of the problem but it recurred 14 years and 5 kids later, and I've since had a TAH.

I don't think there's much that can be done while your daughter is pregnant other than just monitor it. Ask the doctor many, many things, including (like Robyn said) what stage it's at, how fast does he think it will progress, what the treatment options are either now or down the road, what the risks are. In the meantime, encourage your daughter to eat well and rest a lot so her body can try to keep it at bay. I'm sure the doctor will help you both make the best decisions you can.

Sending many prayers your way.

RE: Pre-Cancerious Cells??

I want to thank you ladies for responding. I definately will ask her Dr. questions you both brought up. She was very upset Friday when she found out and didn't think to ask too many questions herself.
I will get back to you robynd,Thank you both!!

Pre-Cancer Cells In Cervix????

About 3-5 years ago (sorry I can't remember exactly) I was diagnosed with pre-cancerous cancer also in my cervix. I had a biopsy and I also had a procedure called cyrosurgery where they freeze the cells off. Neither one was painful. Just cramping afterwards. (I was not pregnant at the time though either) My pap smears after that came back okay. I had to have a hysterectomy due to multiple fibroids that I had so at the same time I also opted to get rid of my cervix so that I would never have that problem again. I was able to have a LAVH so the cervix goes anyway. I was worried about the sex questions about taking the cervix, but the cancer thoughts totally outweighed that. I am happy in my decision and things are okay now. I wish you the best with your daughter. But it is so good that they found this in it's pre stage. That is why pap smears are so crucial and why women should get checked every year. Now, if only I could get my sister checked that would put my fears aside. My mom has had problems, my older sister and me. So I would think she too can have problems since they run in the family. Good luck.
