Does it take 6 months for our hormones to level out?

I was thinking I had read some place that after a hysterectomy, it can take 6 months for our hormones to even themselves out???? Did I dream this? I just hit the 6 month mark and I feel like it has been down hill since, in a bad way. I have suffered headaches over the last month (and I normally dont have these), swollen and tender breasts, emotional outbursts, crying jags, foggy and indecisiveness, etc. You name it. I may have to call my dr. soon. Thanks for any responses.

Does it take 6 months for our hormones to level out?

Hi Anna,
I've been told 6-12 months for my body, mental and emotional self to begin to feel normal. My body is still very sore around the scar and belly button area. But I think my hormones are on track. I am using Vivell Dot and estrace vaginal cream. Other than severe muscle fatigue I feel pretty good. No more migraines, very few hot flashes, no emotional outbursts and not as irratible as normal. Although I still don't feel quite myself--kinda foggy sometimes, and forgetful--I am improving day by day but don't make any assumptions as to when I will feel 100%. My normal daily activities are back to normal. We are each very different but keep an open mind, and try to remain positive. I think that helps a great deal. Good luck

I agree with teresa. It take a while. I am 14 months posr-op, and while I am healed from the surgery, I still have a ways to go in the hormonal dept. If any or all of these symptoms persists, talk to your doc, I'm sure he can help you out.

does it take 6 mos for hormones to level out...

I had a total hysterectomy and did not go on any hormones at all --was avoiding them...my surgery was in Feb 04 3-4 mos ago felt a gradual slide feeling the effects of the surgery like it was only recent

oh I took a panic attack drug that made me sleep the dr prescribed after surgery I went off of it as was not keen on it and the flashes sweats fatigue depression started in I could not cope or nor care about anything...
I started bio identicals I had the pharmacy throw in a bit of everything... all low dose after nearly a month I have had 3 nights of sleep that was not interrupted all night long and the flashes also are down to maybe 2-3 a day
still waiting for the testosterone to kick in though and the dryness to improve
