weight Loss after a TAH/BSO

Hi I am almost 3 yrs post hyst and have been on Estradiol since after the 1st yr(before it was premarin and estratest),
I have gained like 15-20 lbs since. While the estradiol is helping my Meno symptoms, I wonder if it is causing the weight gain. I seem to have leveled off at my current weight(I am 160-165 approx) and 5'6.
I was thinking about joining L.A weightloss. Wondering if anyone has had any positive experiences w. this?I justwanna get back to about 140-145.So a loss of about 25 lbs at most.any input... thanks.

weight Loss after a TAH/BSO

I too have gained weight since my surgery, especially in my hips and thighs. For the first three months, the doctor had me take Aygestin to treat my endo. Then I started oral estradiol. Then I started having hot flashes again and I asked to be put on the Vivelle dot and the doctor gave me .1 mg patches (I had only been taking .05 mg of oral). Anyway, I quickly started to feel estrogen overloaded and I noticed some symptoms returning that I hadn't had in a while. For the past couple years, before surgery, I had been noticing severe PMS, chocolate cravings, a lot of joint pains and numbness and coolness of my hands and feet. The doctor just wrote it off as fibromyalgia and put me on an antidepressant. For the first few months after surgery, I had ABSOLUTELY NONE of those symptoms. All of these symptoms have increased since being put on the patch. I am convinced it is estrogen dominance and that I've had this for years, therefore causing or at least attributing to my endometriosis. No doctor ever, not even a fertility specialist, ever suggested any kind of hormone imbalance possibly being my problem! It makes me furious when I think about it.

Anyway, sorry I'm so off subject here. I'm going tomorrow to see a new doctor in hopes of getting on the bioidentical HRT. I've been using ProGest otc but I don't really think it is strong enough to balance such high doses of estrogen.

Cher: If you are watching your diet, exercising, and still not losing weight, I'd be willing to bet it is from the hormones. Try getting your levels checked.
