Results of my Uro appt.!

Well Ladies, I had my appt. today. I loved the Doctor!! She was awesume and made me feel totaly comfortable!! Diana I took your sugestion and asked her to please examin the prolaps while standing because of my bowel issues...and as you said embarresing ahhh, yah...but I'd rather be embarresd rather that humiliated anyday!! I thought the Nurse was going to freak when the Doctor said ok...go ahead and stand up..The Nurse says WHAT??(she wasnt in the room when we had the dissustion!) She said both my bladder and rectum are severly prolaped, which I knew.
When she did the pelvic she was pretty much horrified with what she saw!! So then the talking started...I asked her that if I had the rectocele fixed what would it do to my bladder? She said the rectocele is on the posterior wall and as long as they don't touch the anterior wall I would be fine.
I talked to her about the fact that none of these Gyn's want to touch me!! She said she would talk to them for me...she said she really feels bad about the situation I'm in!! She wants to do Urodynamic studies and be pressent for them..she wants to try a couple of "things" to try to get the bladder to contract! She said if we could get it to contract, then the interstem implant may just be the answer for me!! But it has to contract! They had me do a urine sample which I did not cath..I just got in the possition I have to and pushed my bladder to get enough out...then they did a bladder scan...It was full!! So I'ts a REALLY good thing I've continued to cath these last 4 years and not listen to the last Uro told me(just stop cathing and we'll have to check your kidneys every 6 months!!)
She told me that if it were her..she would either go to Texas..UAB...Shands...or the Mayo clinic and have everything taken care of at once...oh yah Ladies..You didnt know, I have my own jet airplane did you? NOT!!!! Anyway I guess I came out of the appt feeling maybe a little hopeful?? The good thing about this interstem is they do also have a temperary version that they can try, before the implant .
She also said they are have some sort of meeting all the big Uro's nation wide and she said she would bring up my case!! As I said she is Awesume...and even if she cant help me...she could surley be a good advocate for me!! I'have to look at the good side of a bad situation and a whole lot of praying and just maybe......Thanks for listening...Netty

Oh yah I forgot to mention the surgens visit..Well I walk in there arlready knowing at this point I'm not even going to mention the rectocele to him. He's a general surgen and at this point I cant take any chances!!
I went in there thinking he would take off these lovely warts on my hands and planters warts off my feet and the cyst on my face,...Not! He says he has to do it in the O.R.!!! He said because he has to go soo deep I would not be able to tolerate it with locals! Soooo I tell him about my last O.R. episode after getting general anesthesia I ended up with general paralysis for 3 days in the ICU and I'm still undergoing testing for that reaction!! So he says we won't give you general, and we'll just put you in a twilight so your not aware of whats happening. He asked where I wanted it done, if I just wanted to have it done at a surgical center? I said well if they can handle anything if something goes wrong....He said, we'll do it at the hospital!! So their supose to call me with a date for that and my urodynamic testing is set of October, so as long as I survive this next O.R. exsperance I may have a chance!! I was so glad to read your posting. It is awesome! I think you finally found a dr. who will help you get the treatment you deserve. For her going to bring up your case at that convention is so neat! That may be your answer. Just keep praying Netty. It will work out.
I was put in a twilight when I had my colonoscopy a year ago. I didn't remember anything. So I think your little surgery will be just fine.
Keep us posted. I've had 2 urodynamic tests done since Jan. and it isn't bad at all. You'll be fine.

Thanks Peggy!!, Yes I've had 4 urodynamic studies done in the pastso I'm not worried about that at all. I'm just wondering what "I want to try a couple things" means?? You would think a couple of cardiac paddles would do the trick aye?? Wake that sucker up?? It's been sleeping for 7 looong years so I'm sure its time for a shave by now?? It's nice to have a little hope for a change, even if it only turns out to be temperary hope! Thanks again Peggy ...now lets all do the PEE DANCE for all of our retaining sistah's!!!....Netty
