Vaginal dryness?

I had my last surgery June 14th, 2005 for a bladder sling and rectocele. I thought I was doing okay and then just this week, I started having burning and irritation in my vaginal area. I called the doctor and they (the nurse) thought I was probably having an infection, so called in an antibiotic. Now I'm wondering if what I have is an estrogen shortage. If so, does the compounded esteriol cream help and how much does it help? I am so sore that the thought of sex makes me cringe. I am on vagifem tablets.

Vaginal dryness?

Hi!

It's possible that you are experiencing symptoms of low estrogen. I know when I was having problems I thought I had a yeast infection and/or urinary tract infection. I tested negative to both and ended up with a prescription for Vagifem. Without testing for infections you don't know for sure if you actually have one. Are you taking the antibiotic? I guess if you take it and feel better after you've finished the prescription that would be one way to know.

Let us know how you're doing, okay?

Vaginal dryness?

April Dawn: Yes, I am taking the antibiotic, but so far I'm not feeling much better. I still don't know exactly what I'm dealing with, but have an appointment Friday with my uro-gyn. I had the appointment before I got this latest ailment. I will have to mention to them about my problem or they probably wouldn't take a urine sample since this is supposed to be a follow up to my surgery. I still have a burning irritation in the vaginal area and bladder pressure.
