4 days post-op LAVH and swelly belly??

Hello all! I had my LAVh (lg ovarian cysts removed but ovaries intact) and my belly seems "swollen." It is almost like it is full of jelly, lol! I didn't think I would have swelly belly with an LAVH? Any advice as to whether this is what I am experiencing and the timeframe for recovery, i.e. back to my normal pudgy self?

4 days post-op LAVH and swelly belly??

welcome to the swelly belly club!!!!! i thought i was going to explode there for a while, but i tell ya-using the belly band makes a whole lotta difference. this is all normal. mine went away after the 2nd to 3rd week-but during those times, my belly seemend to go down during the day and get bigger at night. stay away from carbonated drinks-other foods and sodas that may contribute to gassyness....it helps. and let's hope yours goes away as fast as mine did!

4 days post-op LAVH and swelly belly??

I had swelly belly up to 3 months before it noticeably went down. But even now when I exercise or am really active it will swell up temporarily and then go back down.

I also had a LAVH, but since they have to blow gas into your abdomen area in order to see what they are doing, it stretches everything out and gets it all disordered. I think that this is why people who have LAVH's also get swelly belly. And it does take a while to get all of that stuff back in place and unfortunately part of that process is swelly belly.

Drinking water and exercise help you heal more quickly. Initially your belly will swell even more when you walk but since walking makes you stronger and speeds healing time, your belly should be less swelly in a few months than if you didn't exercise.

Just my personal experience. Good luck!
