Hi gerttyroo,
I am sorry that you are still having pain. Did your dr. tell you why he didn't want to take your ovaries out? Mine said that since I am 48 years old he didn't have a problem taking them out seeing how I am almost menopause age anyway. He said that if I would have been in my 30's he wouldn't have even given me the option, he would have left them in. As long as there was nothing wrong with them. I hope everything is alright with you and nothing out of the ordinary is the reason for your pain.
Debbie

Hi fellow Canadian!! I just had my hyster 4 wks ago tommorow. I also still have my ovaries.
I have very painfull ovulation before surgery, not sure yet if its going to continue, but im guessing so. I ovulated while in the hospital on the fentynol pump just days after surgery so I couldnt tell you there, but im do any day now to ovulate again and waiting for that pain to hit. I knew my surgery wouldnt fix that though.
Im sorry your still having pain. Is there any things your doc is willing to do to try and find the cause of your pain? Do you have idea what it could be? Is the pain all the time?
((HUGS))

Have you ever tried birth control pills? Before my surgery I was taking a pill everyday so I wouldn't have any kind of period or pms syptoms. Maybe ask your dr. if you can take a daily birth control pill and see if that helps your pain at all. I was on Seasonale and that one seemed to do the best for me.

I have one ovary left and I get very horrible ovulation pain also. I have to take tylenol 3 at times. Maybe your dr can give you something stronger. Did your dr take a good look at your ovaries. My dr was to remove mine if there was anything remotely wrong. Everything looked great, so he left it. He said that it has a good 5 years or so of life yet. I'm 44.

Patti, why is taking one ovary out not an option? What are the risks of taking the one out? I had one taken out when I was 30. I'm 44 now and it's still working great.
I would seek another opinion if your Dr is not willing to relieve you of your pain.

hi beachlady, i think im going to have to go and talk to my gy, although i hate the thoughts of my poking and proding , my dr said that the risk of heart disease and breast cancer from hormone replacements was to high at my age and that no dr. would do it but i dont know why i cant have the one that is causing me so much discomfort gone, do u have to take any hormone replacements? and how often do u still get pain, my dr. doesn't like prescribtion pain pills and tylonol and advil does not work, im going on holidays oct.6-12 so i mite wait until i get back if i can and then go and see my gy..take care and talk to u soon...
