cravings anyone??

Just want to see if I am crazy. Since my TAH I crave food! Not just any food, I crave meat and protein. It's ten times the cravings I had when I was pregnant. I dont rest till I get what I want. Today it was a muffaletta. I can never eat a whole bunch of what I want (thank goodness) and sweets are not appealing. Anybody else? I am only one week out.

Yesssss....I have had cravings since I woke up from the anesthesia!

First it was milk (usually HATE milk!!) and red meat galore, eggs and broccoli too! I needed to take extra iron upon discharge cause my hemoglobin was 8.0, down from 14.0 Pre-Op.

I am amazed at how the body will look out for itself, and assure we eat what we "need".

Proteins are the body's building blocks. Your body needs this right now to do all the repair work - healing all the places that were cut, making scar tissue. It's a good thing. Just remember that your body can only assimilate a certain amount at any given time and the rest is stored as body fat. Better to have a small amount every three or four hours.
