Surgery to remove complex cyst

Hi Ladies,

Sept 27 is my date for a laparoscopy to remove my complex cyst. I have been watched by an oncologist for the past two months. He reviewed my US films [from another radiologist other than his practice] and his opinion is that it does not look like cancer. He then ordered an US from his own hospital and the tech there mentioned some things that made him think he wants to go in and know for sure what this cyst is. My left ovary is somewhat swollen with the the 2cm complex cyst attached to it. I have had 2 CA-125 both in the 20s. I have my pre-op appointment this Wed and there we will discuss what will happen during surgery. I guess it will go something like, if this area/organ looks bad, then we will take care of it, if this looks healthy, then we will leave it alone. If the cyst shows cancer, then he will continue on with exploratory surgery by incision.

I have read this site all summer and feel comforted by all of you posting to each other with such love and compassion. Please pray for me that it will be a good outcome.

Surgery for removal of ovarian complex cyst

Patty, know you are in everyone's prayers. I can relate on some level. I had a laparoscopy for ovarian cyst/mass on my left ovary, about two years ago. The dctr didnt know what it was, if it was cancer or not, and it was one of the scariest things to go through. When you have a mass growing inside of you, your first impulse is to just get rid of it. After ultrsounds, CAT scans and MRI, I just wanted it out, but it kept growing. I finally had such pain, ended up in ER w/ ovarian torsion, but at the time, they were able to remove it, save my left ovary, and find that it was not cancerous. I will pray for you that yours will not be. Keep your faith - you will get through this, and come out of it even stronger. I know I did. Take care, and make sure you get rest.

Surgery for removal of ovarian complex cyst

Hi Patty,

I will certainly bepraying that your surgery goes well.

I had a LAVH 3 years ago - I kept both ovaries at that time. I had my right ovary removed due to a complex cyst last summer - that surgery was done laparoscopically - thankfully the pathology was all benign. I had another surgery this February to remove a pelvic mass - that too was benign.

I'm glad you are finding HysterSisters helpful and supportive.

Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi Patty,
What was the outcome of your surgery (diagnosis)? I am scheduled for surgery next month for a cystic ovary with a complex mass attached. I hope you are doing ok.
