I'm 46 and have large Fibroids and a very large uterus. I am going to have a total hysterectomy in about 5 or 6 weeks. This is upsetting as I am a very active person and also that I am afraid of having major surgery. I would appreciate anyone just writing and talking to me during the next weeks before my operation. I like many others I imagine don't sleep well at night before surgery.
I do appreciate this website. Oh, I'm from New York and live now in Australia. I hope all works out for all you preop ladies.. see what us women always go through.. not fair!

Hello! And welcome!

If you are looking for new friends who are wonderful and supportive and who you can talk to about anything, then you've come to the right place. I had my surgery 7 weeks ago (and feeling great now!), and even though family and friends did all they could for me and did a magnificent job, there's nothing like talking to another woman that's been there--or that will be there.

I noticed that this post is on the Cancer concerns message board. This board is not highly traveled, so if you haven't posted on the pre-op board yet, you might want to try that. You'll meet all kinds of wonderful ladies there who are waiting to go to the castle, and others who are already at the castle waiting to welcome you there.

Also, check out the Chat room. I've never been there myself (I'm computer-inept), but I've heard it's a wonderful place to be, especially when you're waiting.

Best wishes for your upcoming surgery. I know you'll have lots of responses from others who can't sleep either.

I just wanted to give you a warm welcome and tell you to get ready to meet some of the warmest, friendliest and most supportive women that you have ever met!! The friendships which grow here are absolutely amazing and I am sure that you will benefit from all of them! Please visit the Pre-Op Board where you will find that you are not alone in your worries or troubles of sleeping. If you are a spiritual woman, the Prayer Board is a wonderful place where we all ask for Prayer Requests and share our thoughts and worries for those close to us, as well as ourselves! If it's friendly chatter that you are looking for to brighten your day, then see the Chatter Forum for some fun. If you need help, just give a holler. We are all anxious to help!
