I'm soooooo scared!! Need support!!

Just got back from doctor ... said that CA-125 was raised in my bloodwork and he's rushing tests and d&c now to find out what's going on. He said it can be indicative of endimetrial cancer.

Today I'm going to my doctor for blood work and clearance for d&c, tomorrow morning I'm having cat scan and friday having d&c and hysteroscopy.

I'm scared and worried, but I also know it's in God's hands ... guess I'm just feeling the 'human' emotions.

Can anybody share if they've gone thru this .. had this type of blood results, and what happened? I sure could use all the information I can get.

Keep me in your prayers.

Hugs,
Dee

Hi Dee

I did not have your type of cancer, but I have sure walked in your shoes. You are enduring the toughest part right now - the waiting. Our imaginations are usually our own worst enemies and the reality is much easier once you find out!

I'm sure some sisters with your experience will be here soon to offer advice.

Hang in there, I'm thinking of you and sending some good positive thoughts and a virtual squeeze your way.

Dee,
You don't say how elevated your CA 125 is. The CA 125 can be elevated for reasons other than cancer, but it is great that your doctor is checking everything out now.

The thought that you may have cancer is a rather scarey thing. Take one day and one test at a time. Then when the results of all the tests are in, you will be able to make any decisions knowing you have as much information as you can have from these tests.

Hi Dee

I am so sorry to hear of your concerns. I know it is frightening and SheGeek is right this is one of the toughest parts to endure...the "process" and the Not knowing. I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer and had a D&C to confirm it. I did not have a CA125 though.

Please try to stay positive and try not to think about it every second of the day (easier said than done..I know)
I will send positive thoughts your way and hope you take some time to relax your mind as it does help your overall being during this "Unknown" period.

Stay Strong & positive

Hi.
It sounds like you're having everything checked out real quick- that's great.
CA-125 is not a perfect test and can be elevated in other settings- we think of it most often associated with uterine/ovarian cancers where it is used as a screening marker during treatments and followup, but it can also be elevated from other things too.
The best thing to do for yourself now is like tricia says- stay strong and positive. It sounds like you are in good hands and will have everything sorted out soon.
And I completely understand what you are going through... the emotional roller coaster that all of us know all to well. But try not to let it consume you.
best wishes.

Hi Dee,
I also know, first hand, how hard it is to relax but you really need to take some deep breaths and try to think things through.
Always remember that although all of these tests can be frightening, they are used to rule things out as well as find things. Lets hope that nothing is found and that all concerns are ruled out.
Good Luck to you and let us know how everything turns out.

Hi Dee: Your doctor seems to be very thorough amd concerned and that's good--you want a doctor who cares about you. The waiting and tests are the worst part. Deep breaths and keep remembering that as scary as this is, you are on top of whatever is is. Big and keep us posted.

Hi Dee,

I know how scary it is to wait. I had to wait 11 days between getting the news I had endo cancer til I could see the oncologist to find out what to do about it. (My diagnosis was via an endometrial biopsy.) Yesterday, on my way to see the onco, I almost had my dh pull over because I was so anxious I thought I was going to throw up. The "what ifs" circle like vultures.

But after seeing the onco (he's wonderful) I feel so much better. I have endo cancer but there are tried and true treatments out there that will likely give me a long and healthy life.

I know it's tough, but keep trying to stay positive and know that your doctor is doing all the right things, and will continue to do what needs to be done. It's scary not know what's going to happen, but you are not alone.
