I'm home! Now I just need to do what I'm told

Just wanted to check in quickly and say I am home from my surgery. Had it Monday, home late Wednesday afternoon.

All in all, no trouble at all. Foley Cathether bugged me no end. He finally [urologist] removed it yesterday a.m. and while I have to think about it while peeing, I have no problem peeing. Which is m arvelous, no self cath for Karen!

Large incision because the fibroids were so large.

Not to gross you out, but I took in a disposable camera. I not only have photos of my overloaded uterus, but of my ovaries [very scarred] as well, but of the surgeons and surgical staff working over me [I am all drapped in green drapers, can see me, but you know it is me. Eventually, I would send those pics to anyone interested. I have like a 4 month pregnancy, and the fibroids are quite easily seen.

I was informed I walked 'just enough' sat 'just enough' and probably used less of the pump than anyone previously. Not being a martyr, I just didn't need it.

General anesthesia, not bad either.

I'll post my hyster story later. Right now I am up with my swelly belly and gas settled in my back, so trying to sit up, to break it up.

This site is what, by the way, gave me the ideas of what was 'just enough.'

Off to bed.

Thank you all again

I'm so glad everything went so well for you!

From what I learned at my pre-op appt yesterday, you need to get all the rest you your body requires; don't over do it, let others help you~

I can only hope my surgery goes as well as yours!

Best of luck in your recovery --

As for the photos..... if you're a Crown Jewel, you can actually have a photo gallery. I have a couple of pics of my uterus posted on there. (I was considering putting them on my holiday cards last year but sanity won out.... )

I'm glad you're doing OK. You and I had surgery the same day (I had an old hematoma removed from my abdomen on 9/20) so we have to be good little es together! is the order of the day, punctuated by drinks of water, meds as scheduled, and short walks. For the first week or so after I was home after my surgery, I made my frequent potty breaks my "short walks" and it really helped me.

Let the pampering begin in earnest!!

Welcome home!

Glad you're home and everything went well...Take good care of yourself and don't over do it...I'm interested in the photos...I'm still "afraid" (might say ashamed) of asking my Dr about photos...I'll be waiting for your story

I'm home! Now I just need to do what I'm told

MJ,

I teased about the same thing. Christmas card photo! LOL

I have to tell you all, I am plenty sore right now. Getting ready to go get my staples out.

anna,

You can read my hystory here
http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...67#post1483867 and the pictures are posted there as well.

My mantra now is..."Karen Sue...don't be a martyr, they gave you pain meds for a reason!" First couple days went well, the last two, I'm just sore. I think I overdid. Whoda thought that???

I need to have a bm, and as is my wont...have gone to that being the thing I am going to worry a bit about. Hubby says if I didn't have something to worry about, I'd worry about that!

Anna...just a few more days!

Karen,
Thanks for sharing your story and the pictures. I am going to get a camera too... great idea. I AM SO GLAD you had that thing removed... it was HUGE! It almost needed it's own zip code! I bit you will feel so much better now. Please dont over do it and please take it slow. Follow the princess drill. I'll check in on you after work, and I hope to hear that you have been lounging ALL DAY.
