D&C over/ Anyone a DES Daughter

Just to check in and let you know I had my Leep and D&C yesterday. I didn't talk to the doctor afterwards because I was still not awake. But he told my husband that all looked fine and clear..... I don't really know what that means. I am to see him on Friday of next week......yes, more waiting.....to go over the lab results. You know, he is just so optimistic that I just
think I want to slap him. I saw him before surgery and he was just all happy and saying everything is fine. I am sitting there with lots of aches and pains. I don't know if he is just saying all that to keep us calm or he
doesn't have a clue. I haven't figured that out yet. He is a GYN/ONC and came here from MD Anderson. He is a very likeable person. I am going to have to be prepared on Friday to tell him that I don't want the "Oh your fine" story, I want the actual details. I want the actual medical terms and nothing glossed over.

As for me, I was pretty sore yesterday and crampy. But today I'm doing pretty good. I am at work (office work) and just tired mostly.

So for today, that's my story. I will be interested to see as the week goes on if I still have the frequent urination, low back pain, clear discharge,
ovary pain, etc, etc. I don't think the Leep and the D&C can fix all that.

Also, I just realized that I think I am a DES daughter. I don't know if that could be causing these problems or not. Anyone else have any information on that. My Mother had many miscarriages along the way and just the the September before I was born she had a still birth. Then she immediately got pregnant with me and I was born the next August. So she probably took DES up till the stillbirth and then started it up again when she got pregnant with me. I probably got a double dose. She never called it DES but did talk about the "miracle pill" that would keep her from miscarrying...........just wondering.

D&C over/ Anyone a DES Daughter

Hi, I'm a DES daughter, too! I asked my gyn/onc if that had anything to do with my cancer--how quickly it grew, that it was there at all--and he told me quite likely it did, although the CDC website on DES comes to a different conclusion. I'm sticking with my gyn/onc on this, though. I don't see how you can overload someone with hormones and not have some fallout somewhere.

Anyway, I hope your meeting with the gyn.onc goes well--ask him if DES has any bearing on your case, and see what the answer is. I'd be interested to know.

D&C over/ Anyone a DES Daughter

Hi Valarie and thanks for responding. I will certainly ask the Gyn/Onc on Friday. I have never had a bad pap until March and it showed Lesions then I had a Coloscopy and it came back all clear. Nothing showed up at all. Then we waited 3 months and I had another bad pap showing the same. Since then I have had a Leep and a D&C and am waiting on the results from that to see what is going on.

I will get back with you and tell you what he says.

D&C over/ Anyone a DES Daughter

I had years of clean paps until about 6 years ago; after that, it was one bad one, one good one, HGSIL to normal to LGSIL to normal, LEEPS, biopsies, etc....a real merry-go-round for a while there. I know that DES daughters are known for a fairly rare clear-cell vaginal cancer, but that is in younger women (usually under 25). We are guinea pigs for DES, and now that the majority of DES daughters are menopausal, doctors are seeing some problems with us and hormone therapy, and even more frightening, with our daughters (2nd generation DES daughters.) The fun never ends.

Anyway, again I look forward to hearing about your doctor visit. Good luck!
