My Dr told my he was leaving the stump of my cervix for support.
Did you have pelvic floor repair?
No, I had endometrios. The first surgery was removal of endo off of abdomen wall, and the culdesack thatis the area between cervix and rectum. Also removed uterus and left ovarie. Then I had to have a second surgery to remove cervix because there was a spot that woiuld not stop bleeding.
Well yours was most different to my problems, I don't know I am sure there was some reason for him to leave to the stump, did he also tell you to still have a yearly pap test? That was something to Dr made clear to me, even with the stump there would be enough to get a pap smear.
The cervical stump is what remains when you have a supracervical (keep cervix) hyst. The cervix is actually the very bottom portion of the uterus, and when they cut off the uterus, the cervical stump remains. It looks like you kept your cervix with your initial surgery, but then had to have it removed. Perhaps your doctor meant that you would no longer have trouble with your cervical stump (the bleeding you were having) because now it is gone.
