just home from hospital

Hey Sayyadina,

ICongraulations on being out of the hospital and home again although sometimes in can seem rather daunting just after a surgery to come home and see everything that may need to be done. But, take it very easy and take as much help as you can around the house..

You are so very early in your recovery...it does take a while for the swelling to go down and to start feeling yourself again. Did you come home with a catheter? It's a slow go peeing at first, but everything gets better as you go along.

Best wishes in your recovery!

No catheter to come home with thank goodness, I had to keep the supra pubic catheter in a couple of days longer than planned as i had high residuals left after peeing, but they took it out when the total left was 30mls it was in for 6 days instead of 4
peeing is better if i drink lots, but im having a lot of trouble with opening my bowels but i think im just scared

I was afraid of the bowel thing too after my surgery. Are you taking a stool softner every day? That really helps so you don't have to force things. I cam home with my supra pubic catheter and really hated it. I had it in 12 days. I was glad to have that though..I did not want to self cath. Scarey!

You will be feeling better each day. Try to get lots of rest and keep your legs propped to help with swelling. I walked a little around the house and ventured out to walk a little when it was nice. That seems to help too.

Take care.

Sherry
