Has anyone ever tried or know of anyone that has tried a herbal treament for shrinking fibroids?
I have multiple fibroids, the largest one is 11cm. and it sits posterior of my uterus. The doc said my uterus is approximately 15cm. Although, I don't have any real bad discomfort from them I do suffer from a herniated disc (L3) right in the region of the big fibroid. My doc doesn't want to do surgery because I am 46 and close to menopause which he said they will most likely shrink up at that time and the fact that I am not suffering from any really bad side effects from them. I would still like to shrink them if possible and I read about this all natural treatment...just wondering if anyone has tried anything like that and what kind of success they have had with it.
Since you aren't suffering any ill effects from the fibroids, you are very smart to seek out alternative treatment. Get smart about your symptoms and your options, and make the best choice for YOU. I am sending huge cyberhugs
I'm trying a number of supplements and herbs and acupuncture. I have already posted that I will post my results in 3-6 months good, bad or indifferent. I'm trying Neprinol, vitex, chinese herbs Blup...? DIM, and some other stuff, Maitake mushroom extract etc. Cutting out estrogenic foods to the extent possible (no soy)
I was told I had a 6 centimeter fibroid which was causing me heavy bleeding with a anemia and trips to the ER. My Dr wanted me to have a hysterectamy but I wanted to try and shrink the fibroid by natural methods. I did much reasearch and reading and this is basically what I tryed: first diet, I eliminated sugar, alcohol, white flour, caffiene, artificial sweetners and cut back on dairy and red meat. All these things are high in estrogen which promotes fibroid growth according to my research. I used a natural progesterone cream ( and lots of it). I was very low on progesterone. I also was taking Essiac which is a cleansing herb that is known to shrink fibroids. I was recommended to take Transfer Factor Plus but I did"nt start taking it in time to make a difference because eventually I did end up having a hysterectamy 4 months after my diagnosis. For me my symptoms persisted so I was fed up with the bleeding so I honestly don't know how effective my efforts were in shrinking the fibroids since I had the surgery anyway. If there were no symptoms I would probably have continued right thru menapause. Good luck, self help is the right approach in my opinion.
