Keeping the Climara Patch On

I have been on the Climara patch for over a year now. I get my patches three months at a time and thru the mail. This past batch has been terrible to keep on. It started I would put one on, on Sat. and by tues I would have to get out the white tape and put a big X on myself. This past week I put it on Sat. and by Sun. night I had the big white X. Does any body else have this problem? Did I just get a bad batch? Thanks for any info.

If you haven't previously had any problems, it is possible that you received a bad batch. I would call the mail order pharmacy and let them know. They may be willing to send you out a new batch of patches.

If that's not the problem, here's some tips for keeping the patch stuck Patches: Adhesion

Keeping the Climara Patch On

Hi past
I am on the Climara patch as well. for the most part it sticks ok. I do find that it sticks better on the one side than the other so when I wear it on my right side I cover it with Tegaderm, a clear bandaid that you get at the pharmacy. It works out great for me although sometimes the Tegadrem starts to come off but because it is so large only the edge is affected so the patch stays in tact. I hope this makes sense. it is worth a try. I love the patch, it is so convenient. good luck.

Thank you for your replies. I at least have a few things to try now and I know I am not the only one out there with this trouble.

Keeping the Climara Patch On

I've only been on it since my surgery..a little over a month and had one fall off after just a day. Not knowing any better, I just threw it away. Now i realize that if it gets wet and falls off if you dry your skin and the patch it goes right back on. I never even thought about the big white x ..good thinking.

Keeping the Climara Patch On

Is the tegaderm a prescription?
I contacted my Mediscript the place I get my patches from (mail order). I spoke with the patient care advocate. She was usless. Told me I would have to talk to my doctor to get it changed. I wasn't trying to get it changed I wanted to know if the ones I got for these three months were defective. I gave up on that call. I have now mailed off a letter to Berlex Labs. I could not find an e mail address for them. We will see what happens. I have to go to my doctor next month anyway.

No, tegaderm is one of those clear plastic bandaid thingies. It is made by Nexcare. It looks like saran wrap once it is on. I got mine at the pharmacy in the bandaid section.

It always fell off of me, so I switched to oral estradiol. 100 times better.

Keeping the Climara Patch On

I've been on the Climara for 3 weeks and it sticks fine on my belly, not as great when I tried the backside. I talked to a Berlex rep who said the Climara is being replaced by the pharmacies with generic sometimes and they aren't sticking as well. Just a thought!
