more prolapses

Hi hyster sisters,
I just was wondering how many of you have or had more prolapses since your hysterectomy? When I pee and wipe myself, the area feels a little bit different again than the few weeks after my surgery; I wonder whether I might have something else dropping. Well, I am going to see my gyn later on this month for another check-up, then I will ask him about it.

brighid,
I had a cystocele repair with my hyst and I knew at 7 1/2 weeks it was buldging and it fell again around 12 weeks. Now I know that doesn't mean the 'repair' failed - it could mean that my bladder just found another weak spot to come out of. I guess when I go in for a repair - I will need mesh or something to stop from happening again.
Which prolapses did you have repaired - I hope that you aren't having a reoccurance too.

Hi Bowlinggrl,
I had my hysterectomy because of uterine prolapse, but now it feels like something else is starting to prolapse. Take care, hyster sister.

brighid,
That is why I had my hyst - because of uterine and bladder prolapse and I couldn't have my rectocele repaired. Unfortunately once you have a prolapse, you may be prone to more prolapses. I thought I had it covered having my hyst, bladder repair and vault secured but I guess I was wrong. Keep us posted on your appointment.

Brighid, I had uterine prolapse, a rectocele and cystocele. I had my surgery 7/25 and 4 weeks letter felt something protruding again. I have a Grade 2 rectocele again and redundant vaginal tissue. I was scheduled for surgery 2 days ago but cancelled because of problems with the surgeon and am waiting for my rescheduled surgery date. I am looking forward to getting this over with so I can get on with life. Let me know how things go at your appointment.

I have a uterine prolaspe and the doctor said I have a slight bladder prolaspe too.

I hope everything is fixed with one shot and I don't have to go back for future repairs.

darla,

How did you know you had a cystocele and rectocele? What were your symptoms? I am concerned that I may have a rectocele because I still have great difficulty with bowel movements, and it feels like it is bulging a little behind the vagina when I am trying to have a BM, and if I press on this area during a BM, it helps me to pass things. (sorry, TMI) I don't see my doctor again until February, but it isn't bothering me too much, except when I try to have a BM, then I am uncomfortable, not really in pain. So I thought I would just wait and see what happens.

relapse prolapse - info please?

You are speaking a foreign language to me! My surgery was for uterine/bladder prolapse and to fix some other problems like a hernia between my rectum and my vagina, pull things back into a "normal" position, etc. I don't know what all they repaired, honestly, but it was plently. "Pretty beat up down there" is the direct quote from the uro-gyn.

Sounds like I need to ask some penetrating ( ) questions at my 2 week post op. Can anyone point me to other resources that will educate me about this topic?

well, i knew i had a rectocele because the bulge is at the opening of my vagina and with the cystocele i went to the dr for urine retention and she examined me and said i have a cystocele. my symptoms are pain in my bladder, lower back ache, pain during sex. as for the rectocele, i have to push the bulge down to have a bm.
i hope that helps
