Black Cohosh use?

Hello. Just moved over here from the Jungle to see if anyone has successfully (or unsuccessfully!) used Black Cohosh for hormone problems and fluctuations? In the Jungle, I learned about Remifemin which says it has 40 mg of BC. But I couldn't find any without St. John's Wart and want to add only one substance at a time. The BC I bought at the health food store says to take 3 times a day at 515 mg per dose. What a difference!

So, is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this for me. Sure would appreciate it! Both the Desert and the Jungle are so confusing!!!!!!!!!!!!

love black cohash

I don't have any scientific info. However, I take it twice a day (morning and bedtime) and it is 540mg. The bottle says 3 times a day but I do not follow directions well I have not had any flashes or sweats on this dosage and I am not on HRT. Also I take several other supplements including vit. E that is suppose to help symptoms. I thought I saw remifimin without SJW, but skipped it due to high $$$$. Though the dosage is suppose to be more reliable than other brands. I am fine with the regular stuff though. Good luck in figuring all this out. It is truly confusing.

Thanks Sherik!

Your post is most encouraging! I will start taking the BC this weekend, just in case it doesn't agree with me. Do you take it with food? That's what my label says. Will let you know how it goes. :

what instructions?????

I take one in the morning and one at night but I haven't read the instructions. So I pay no attention to the food part, might be good to do so????? I am not a good example for how to properly do things However, it seems to be working for me. I think the difference in the amounts is that with OTC health food type supplements you do always get accurate amounts. Remifimine however is suppose to have very accurate amounts. You can always start with a small dose and increase it as you feel comfortable. Hope it works for you you. Are you taking Vit. E? That will help as well. Let us know how you are doing.

Please post your results!

I've been taking Vit E for 2 weeks now & no difference yet & now want to start taking Black Cohosh without all the extra stuff. Why pay for all the extra's if you don't need it?

Let us know when/if it starts working!
