I never take sleeping pills, but I've hardly slept in days. I forgot to ask my doctor if it's OK for me to take an over-the-counter sleeping pill the night before surgery--maybe every night before--only 4 nights left.
I'm having my surgery the same day as you. I would call the Dr first and see if it's ok. I'm nervous and scared too. But I believe we'll get through and we'll feel so much better afterwards. I'll be thinking of you and all the other sisters. And I know someone else who not only will be thinking of us, but he'll be right with us "God". Take care and if you need to chat you can PM me anytime.
If you can...call your Dr and ask if he can prescribe you ambien (the smallest dose)...I never have taken anything to sleep or relax but I was so scared and nervous pre-op that I asked my Dr if he would prescribe me something and he prescribed me ambien...only took it the night before surgery and I slept 8 full hours and woke up rested for the surgery...
I have taken a generic Tylenol PM the past two nights because it's been weeks since I slept well..just too much anxiety. I did talk to my gyn about the over the counter meds and she said they are fine now and later.
I slept a really good solid eight hours the first night but I woke up with too much on my mind again last night after only six hours of sleep. Still that's more than I was getting the nights before. I'm going to take more tonight as the bottle states non-habit forming.
