has anyone felt like this i need help
I am so scared. I don't know where to turn. I had a tvh one year ago the 15th of this month. I have been complaining of various things the whole time but nothing compared to this. When I got home from the hospital I noticed my left arm and across my shoulder would ache/hurt and it had to power. It gradually went away for the most part. Then I developed a heaviness in my chest while sleeping once I got up it would go away. Also there was a slight tremor to my body until I was up awhile. Now it is just horrible. I wake during the night because I feel a heaviness in my chest and upper back. Both my arms are achy and I have no grip to my hands they always feel stiff. My ring finger on my left hand has a pulling feeling in it. And now during the last couple of days I feel like my pubic bone has pressure on in. Same with my pelvis, lower back and base of my neck. Since the surgery my blood pressure has risen. I was put on one med 7 years ago for b/p for the first time but now I take two for blood pressure. Recently I have been put on thyroid meds. I try to talk to my doctor about these problems but all he does is give me meds for the pain. I have so many unfilled perscripts because I don't want pain meds I want to know why. He takes six minutes for me in his office. I clocked it and he bills my insurance company for an extended visit. I don't know if my meds were causing the problem. I stopped taking all but the b/p meds and thyroid. I even stopped taking the hormone med. I don't know what to do. I am so frightened. My family has a history of cancer. When I see my list of complaints I feel this must be in my head but it sure don't feel like it. That and the short term memory problems I feel like I'm losing my mind. I am still trying to pay off last years doctor bills and I am scared this could bankrupt me. My ppo has a list of doctors I could use but besides the one I have the others on the list are quite a distance from me. I would like to have a doctor I can talk to. That I don't feel I am taking up his time. Mine looks at my folder the whole time he is in the office and looks up occassionally in the six minutes he is with me. Please help Has anyone had simular problems.

Hi Karen;
I'm so sorry to read about all of your problems. From what you describe, it could be any number of things.
I strongly urge you to see another doctor no matter how far you have to travel and get another opinion and maybe one that listens to you.
Some of what you describe sounds like it may include neurological problems along with some reactions to medications. You really should not stop medicines unless you speak to your doctor first.
If he wants to prescribe you something you need to be straight forward and let him know how you feel about taking more medicines for the pain and not addressing the probelm.
Some heaviness in the pevic area and the chest is "normal" after surgery but you being a year post-op it should be gone I would think.
Please take the steps to get yourself feeling better. I tell my step-daughter all the time, if you won't take time to do things for yourself, who will?
Best wishes to you and take care! Let us know how you are doing!
 's!
Sybie

 Karen,
Please please please find another doctor. It is important that you find a doctor that will listen to you - and most importantly one that will help to find the cause of your problems. I wish I had an answer for you - but I really don't have the foggiest idea.........
I agree 100% with ((Sybie)) - don't stop your meds without talking to your doc first - and if they are giving you pain meds that you don't want - tell them. But at the same time - my PM doc always says that although she can't treat my problems - she can help me to control my pain while my other doctor's working on healing me. So you might consider talking to your doc about something that will at least help your discomfort while you are sleeping. If you are not getting good rest - you will not be feeling better any time soon!!!
Please take care of yourself! Keep us posted!

Karen:
I also highly recommend another physician at this point. Perhaps a good internist/family doc who can refer you to specialists as needed. You need a doc who listens well and will hold your hand through this.
Yes, great caring docs who will talk about anything you want to talk about do exist... I have one who will give me all the time I need and says ultimately that I am the boss. That doesn't mean he's a push over. If I asked for something medically inappropriate he would tell me no. He does give me plenty of options/choices and explains them until I understand.
So I wish for you your own Doc Charming. I refer to him as Doc Charming because he's a prince and he's always coming to my rescue and I am after all a

Thank you all so much. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't get on this site and be able to correspond with the sisters. I am going to contact another doctor. It is so hard to figure out what specialty I need since the pain and discomfort is in so many places. The doc who doesn't listen well is an internist. My husband has a doc thru his company I am thinking I should try. Might be less expensive and since it is connected to my husbands job I'm hoping more though.
Again, like always you all open my eyes and make me feel better. I will let you know what happens.

The chest sensation you describe can also be a symptom of heart disease. I don't want to frighten you, and it probably isn't that, but you should find someone to listen to you. Especially with the history of high blood pressure; heart disease symptoms in women are different than in men, and are far more common (even in "youngish" women) than many people think. Unfortunately, those of us in surgical menopause also do have a higher risk for heart problems.
Again, although it hopefully is unlikely, your doctor should make sure to rule this out, perhaps with a stress echo (one of the better tests for women, and more sensitive than just a regular treadmill). Please do not ignore these symptoms, OK???

thanks so for reply and concern. It seems this is the only place I can go where people really care. I have contacted a doctor thru my husbands job. Hopefully they can tell me something. I am frightened. The worse thing is all the doctor bills that are acummulating because of this. I hear about alot of people going backrupt because of doctor bills.

I go tomorrow for my exam. I am so frightened.
Today I noticed a large swelling on the right of my neck. It looks like is on the gland. It stems from the base of the front right side of my neck and goes half way up my neck. I will let you know what is said tomorrow.
