Sunny Saturday 10-15-05

Good Morning BESTers

The sun is out, temps moderate, and my day is ahead of me. I've made bkft already, cleaning the animal carriers to take pets to free rabies clinic this am at 10:00.

DH has a terriable cold he cought from oldest DD when we were in DC. I'm staying well away from him, lol, as I don't want to get it for our vacation in 9 days!!!! Heehee.

Bkft: 2 strips of lean bacon w/coffee (I am not hungry for some reason, but got in some protein)
Lunch: hoping for tuna salad on lettuce
Dinner: the roasted chicken we were supposed to have yesterday, but changing the veggie to baby brussle sprouts - I've got a craving!

OK ladies - wishing you each a fantastic sun filled Saturday. Stay healthy and remember to be mindful!

Hey, Melissa, you beat me to it this AM! Hi everyone! I am off to my sister's today for a Longaberger party. God knows what goodies she will have there. I will do my best to be OP even though I was bad last night and ate 2, mind you, 2 luscious pumpkin cookies. No formal exercise today but it looks like the sun will be shining all week so outdoor walks will be a pleasure. Off to eat my breakfast of an egg, some wheat toast and some turkey bacon. This will hold me for awhile. The rest of the day is really up in the air. Have a nice weekend all!!!!!!!

Happy Saturday, friends.

Llyn I hope you have a fantastic birthday tomorrow!
Fran, I know you are hurting I do hope Jakey finds a good home soon.
Em, what's a Longaberger party? Sounds interesting!
Melissa, enjoy the rabies clinic -
Peggiesue, I'm glad to know the fiber drink is recommended. I looked at the label and it's only 2 grams of fiber so I guess twice a day is not excessive. And I'm mixing it with my Miralax and a little milk to keep the whole thing palatable. In fact it's rather good.
And Margo, the baked potato info is great! I've been trying to put less on my plate for a long time, but nothing stops me from going back for seconds!
And who posted about walking? I am happy to say that I have continued to enjoy the elliptical for a mile a day, in addition to resuming short walks with the dogs. It's better than nothing!

This morning we had oatmeal (in my effort to increase my fiber intake) and we are about to have tomato sandwiches or maybe tomato lettuce cheese sandwiches for lunch, with some ice cream for dessert. I thought about skipping the sandwich calories and then I said no, my BEST friends would not approve, and come to think of it, I don't either. Nope, I need that fiber!!

Sorry I"m not able to address everyone but I need to get those sandwiches made or DH will go to the freezer himself and start on the ice cream!

Back from the rabies clinic. Desk you like them? It was fun to see all the other doggies there. Mine were the only cats while we were there. Good thing there were 3 of us to control 4 animals! The people were so friendly and helpful. Saved me $80.00. Now thats my tax $$ at work and I can get behind that!

Lunch hasn't happened yet - came home and had another cup of coffee w/a tiny piece of Velvet Crumb Cake I baked last night. Its one of those little coffee cake receipies on the Bisquick box. Small, but very very good. So I'm not hungry now and DH is napping on the couch.

We're planning on taking a walk (or ride) in a short while in the sunshine and take pictures of the old houses to do a project as a fund raiser for our local historic society (we do the work, give the items to the historical society to sell). Should give me excerise and sun on my face at the same time!!

OK - off to conquer the world - well maybe just the town.

Hugs - Melissa

Afternoon everyone...

Just have a minute before I have to leave to pick the boys up from the groomers... they were looking a little scruffy due to the nasty weather... the rain really didn't do much for their fur. They should look and smell much better!

Finished this week's worth of exercises... and completed a squat test today... all I know is that little test is resulting in me getting yet more exercises to do to increase my flexibility.... Tomorrow is my day off & I am so looking forward to it!

Food has been ok... went out for breakfast & had 1/2 a scrambled egg, a bagle, and one slice of pork roll...skipped the homefried potatoes... that'll hold me until dinner tonight... which will be a roast pork and some kind of greens... and, I'm guzzling all my water as I'm still sweating after my shower.

Looking forward to enjoying some of this beautiful sunshine as well... and work out in the yard.

Melissa... I love the free clinics... a real help for owners of multiple pets. Enjoy this beautiful day... great day for pictures.

Emily... Longaberger party... what fun.

Desk... increasing fiber isn't too hard to do... but check the packaging... like Kashi oatmeal contains more fiber than other brands. Also, Longaberger is a type of basket... very nice.

Hi to all who come along afterwards... have a great weekend!

Happy Sweetest Day BEST
It is so beautiful out right now. My neighbor and I walked about 2 miles this morning. Gertie kept up on her short little basset legs.
Bkfst was oatmeal with a dash of maple flovoring and a small vanilla yogurt stirred in. (not bad)
Lunch was 2 oz of cheddar cheese
Dinner will be a piece of roast and salad
I baked DH a spice cake today for sweetest day. I don't really care much for it and it is his favorite so I hope that keeps me out of it. (I love the icing)
Melissa, I took Gertie to the Vet's yesterday for her rabies shot, she doesn't need another one for 2 years. My sister goes to the free clinics. I never know when they are and since I only have 1 dog, it doesn't cost too much.
Desk, your sandwiches sound good. Ice cream sounds better ;-)
Emily, Pumpkin cookies sound good, and pumpkin is good for you. It does sound like there is going to be a run of good weather so enjoy your walks while you can.
Hi Sue, and everyone else to come along. I need to get busy.

What a coincidence - there was a town wide yard sale/sidewalk sale and one of the stores had a table with about a dozen Longaberger Baskets with the liners and linens for sale. The cheapest was $60.00. Oh my! They are beautiful baskets I'll say that for them.

Chicken is in the oven roasting - baby brussel sprouts defrosting - and the stuffing ready to be made (using packaged). My dad is comming for dinner. I'm ready to go out and put together a "goul" for my front porch bench. He's gonna be life sized and will have lighted eyes. Should be fun!! Have to hang my floating ghost's in the trees also. Almost done w/outside and need to take advantage of this fine weather. DD's birthday party is next saturday and I want it to look fun for her friends from school.

Sue - your boys sound like mine - little scruffies until they get groomed after the nasty weather we've had. My guys go Wed.

Margo - I like spice cake - in fact I prefer it without frosting. Most icings for cakes are too sweet for me. I love "different" types of cakes from the routiene - like spice, pumpkin, hummingbird, bananna nut, etc....

Desk - did you think Longaberger was something ediable? Sounds like it could be, right? The are beautiful, but very expensive, baskets that I can't afford, LOL. Here's a link to see them....

Emily - OK, how many did you buy??? LOL

I'm outta here! Again

Hi Besters,
Spent most of the day in town, got my hair cut and then shopped, mostly bought groceries for the week, and refrained from buying any clothes till a go down a size or two. Also visited the vet to get some more front line for the dogs.
Melissa, we've got kitties too - 6 of um but no free clinics round these parts ): but suspect the taxes may be lower -probably evens out in the end.
Emily, hope the party was fun. the pumpkin cookies sound yummy.
Desk, tomato sandwiches and ice cream, I'll go for that ice cream.
Sue, my Chihuahua/mex hairless/ terrier mix who has sparse light blond hair, with quite a few white strands, turns a reddish gold a couple days post bath- especially in rainy/muddy weather -poor little guy quite close tothe ground.
Margo, spice cake sounds yummy, I am a sweetaholic and love it all so now bake with splenda which helps but not 100percent of course.
Have a happy evening and a blessed Sunday.

Melissa, thanks for the link. And they do sell some goodies, I see. I'll stay away from them for now, since DH is a fanatic for containers of any sort.

Just watched a silly show on television and DH and I had an hour of good old belly laughs. We've missed that for a while, and this was fun. Now I have to drink my fiber and get on the elliptical - or just go to bed. We walked the dogs around 3 PM and it was just gorgeous outside. I love autumn weather, but I do miss McIntosh apples. That used to be my favorite part of fall. Sigh.

Have a great night and I'll check in tomorrow!

And SHARON I forgot to congratulate you on losing 40 lbs! Slow and sure is the absolutely best way to go, and you are doing it! We are thrilled for you and so very very proud of you! :

Off to bed,
