Concert ticket 11 days after surgery?

Hi everyone,
I purchased concert tickets way before I knew I would need a hysterectomy. It will be a full one with diagonal cut .

Now I'm wondering what the chances are I will feel up to going. It is a Jann Arden concert (not a rock type thing).
The nurse at my pre op said that of course I will be able to go but I'm wondering.......Will sitting in a seat in one position be a problem?
I would be going with my daughter who would drive and it's a short drive. I just don't want to get her hopes up. Thanks for any input.

It's a shame about the tickets, but I doubt you'll be well enough to go. I know I certainly couldn't have at 11 days post-op. You'll be amazed how any kind of effort (even if you're not doing anything!) takes it out of you. Getting ready, sitting in the car, sitting at the concert and then sitting in the car on the way back, plus any walks inbetween, I think will be too much for you.

Maybe just warn your daughter that it's unlikely you'll be able to go? At least then she my be able to get someone else on standby to use the ticket.

Good luck and take good care with your recovery. You only get one shot at it!

I went to see Neil Diamond 13 days post op from a tvh. I rested all day the day of the concert, sat for most of the concert (only stood up for three songs), and paid for it the next day. It was worth it though...

I didn't know for sure until the day of the concert whether or not I was going to go. Listen to your body, it will let you know if you are ready for this or not.

Jann usually has an opening act- call & check u can just go for her part of the show. remember to calculate in transport time into how long you'll be sitting. Also u could leave b4 the end yeah I know it sucs but not overdoing it is impt also would be better re traffic. See how u r the day b4 and rest the whole day & it might just be do-able! Good luck!

If you decide to try to go, remember that if you are in a crowd prople will be bumping into you and the jostling around will not feel good. Try to get a wheelchair, if you attempt to go. I know I would not have been up to going, but everyone is different. Please don't push yourself though, you might be more pain that you care to think about.

Concert ticket 11 days after surgery?

I am 11 days post-op from a horizontal cut, TAH. From the many, many posts I've read on this site, I am having a more painful recovery than most. I think it's because the doctor had to repair severe adhesions from my bladder, bowel, long intestine and some other 4th thing. My bowel had to be moved around a lot because my enlarged prolapsed uterus had been pressing on it (I don't miss that pain).

Right now, all I'm up for is trips to the bathroom and slowly wondering around my house. I didn't expect this more painful recover, by it's worth it because for the first time in years I feel great! No more adenomyosis, 5x7 fibroid, flooding bleeding, 2 weeks of unbearable pain each month.

I'm sure cheering for you and hoping that you are like the rest of the gals that have an easier time.

Blessings - Lisa

I know everybody is different but I know I never could have, it was tough going out at 4 weeks to anything social.

I don't think you will really know until the day of the surgery. Getting a wheelchair is a really good idea. People will give you more space and that is what you are going to want.

I would have been up to a concert at that time, but a week later - no way!

The recovery time has a lot of ups and downs. So play it by ear and see how you are that day, that evening. Just realize that the next day you are going to be extra tired and extra sore.

I guess it's something that you'll really know closer to the time. I'm wondering about the same thing, sort of. I am 12 days post-op right now and have tickets to the hockey game tomorrow night. I *really* want to go! I feel like I can (I guess we'll find out the day after....lol) and have turned down an invite for a friend's birthday dinner tonight to conserve energy:-) No matter how many goals my beloved Canucks score, I will not jump up and cheer! Hahahahaaaaa

Good luck w/ recovery!!

I couldn't even sit in a restaurant for long after 11 days so a concert would have been out of the question. Besides the sitting, you'll have to walk to and from your car and then probably get jostled by the crowd. Even in a wheelchair I wouldn't have been able to do it. Everyone heals differently so this doesn't mean you'll have the same experience but you should make sure your daughter has an alternate to take your place.
