how many lbs SHOULD we pick up after repairs surgery??

My doctor only told me to be careful and to avoid straining and lifting anything too heavy. At the time of my surgery, my DD had just turned 5 and was between 40 and 50 lbs. I was told not to lift her up. By the time I was fully recovered, she was almost 6 and weighed over 60 lbs, so I knew that I wouldn't be allowed to pick her up

As far as your yard is concerned, remember that you are, in fact, still recovering: now is not the time to do all of the yardwork on your own, in one sitting. Not only are there heavy things to pick up, there would be a lot of standing, bending, pushing and pulling. All of these could and probably would strain your abdominals and pelvic floor

How about you limit your involvement on directing the clean-up operations, this year

My dr released me to do almost everything, but I think he gave me a 30-40 lb limit. I would be careful, as Dany said, you are still recovering and even though the docs release us I still think you have to let common sense be your guide. It has been 6 monthes for me and I still try to be very careful about what I do and what I lift because I don't want any problems.

A call to the doctor to ask wouldn't hurt. I would be very careful about lifting at this point as you are still early in your recovery. I still think it's a good idea to check with the doc before doing any lifting. Your doctor knows more about you, the surgery and how your healing is progressing.
