vaginal dryness! even with a lube??????

Hi!

Ohhh, that vaginal dryness can be awful, I know! I don't have my ovaries but I have been using hormone therapy since my surgery over three years ago and I have to use a vaginal estrogen to keep those tissues healthy and moist. That's in addition to the rest of the hormones I use.

I was around 7 months post-op when I started having serious dryness issues. Personal lubricants weren't helpful in my case and actually made my already dry and irritated tissues feel even worse. My doctor prescribed Vagifem which is a tiny estrogen tablet inserted with its own disposable applicator. It releases a small amount of estrogen which stays, for the most part, in those tissues. I've also used a compounded estrogen cream. There are other options for vaginal estrogen. Some women are happy using Estring, which is a vaginal ring inserted and left in place for up to three months and there are other cream choices--all available with a prescription. You can read more about vaginal dryness and treatment options by clicking this link.

Even with ovaries (or one ovary) it's possible to have low vaginal estrogen levels. If you aren't interested in using hormones, I have read of women using Vitamin E vaginal suppositories and some have had luck using an over the counter product called Replens. Let your doctor know about your problem and see what s/he suggests.

I hope you get relief soon!

I also have this problem. I use premarin vag cream three times a week and I do feel much better. Some people compalin that it is messy but I haven't found that. It is pretty thick and you don't have to use a lot so there really isn't that much to come out. Hope this helps. I also had endo.

vaginal dryness! even with a lube??????

I have found a lubricant that works great. I have tried all the ones at the drug stores, but did not care for them. I know I can't tell you the brand name on this site, so I'll tell you what I did to first find this great stuff. I went to an adult store and asked the clerk what was the best and the one she would buy if money was not a factor. It ran me $38.00 for a 4 fl. oz. bottle and it was well worth every penny. The next time I just ordered it on line and it was mailed to me. On the bottle it says "uniquely formulated and will never be sticky or tacky, leaving your skin feeling silky and smooth. Is recommended worldwide by doctors and pharmacists." It really is like nothing you have ever felt. It's like some kind of space age oil. My husband loves it.

We too have tried some of these "Special Lubricants"

On our 4th one now...they all cause me irritation and burning. If you would privately email me with the name of the one you are using I would appreciate it.

Premarin vaginal cream 3 x a week has been the solution for me. It does much more than topically lubricate, it helps to keep vaginal tissues consistently healthy and moist.
