Free Hair Coloring, Should I ???
Hi,
This is not a serious question at all. I am 3.5 weeks post op and my hair dresser wants me to come in for a free highlight if I'll be a model in her hair coloring class. She is very goood and I do trust her, BUT has there been any adverse affects of coloring hair too soon after surgery? I have very healthy hair and lots of it. I had highlights put in approx. 5 months ago, so I'm not over colored.
Any thoughts?/Sab

Free Hair Coloring, Should I ???
Sab,
I colr my hair every 4 weeks(now everyone will know it is not natural lol). I actually scheduled my color so that it was just before my surgery so it would like good in the hosp As far as I know, surgery won't affect the color or vice versa.
one word of caution though... Make sure she won't do anything wild, those hair shows usually have the most extreme styles and colors!
Good luck
Kim

Free Hair Coloring, Should I ???
Kim,
I am a hairdresser and I have done color on clients post hyterectomy. (and have seen others do so as well)
The only concern I have is when they have to lay down in shampoo chair.
If she holds your hands and you can lower yourself back then it would be helpful. (this goes for getting back up too)
You will be fine, if you feel strong enough to go a sit for awhile.. enjoy the pampering.. heck, its for free..
take care

What my hair stylist told me
I have a lot of white hair and am not ready to concede defeat just yet and have the whole thing go white.. I have to go for color application every 4 wks.
I went to my stylist 2 wks post-op for a color and was quite surprised to find out the color just didn't work as well. My stylist had me return the following day for a 2nd application as she didn't like the result from the first the day prior. She was quite bothered by this and finally told me she thought I still had residual anesthesia + pain med combined in my body such that the poor hair shafts just weren't able to take the color application properly.
No idea if that's true or not. I have found I have had no difficulty in the subsequent months after the surgery in having my hair accept the color the way it use to.......
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

coloring
I know anesthesia can take up to a year to leave the hair; the anesthesia settles in the hair after surgery!
Red, my color, and the carmel frosting I had done, have faded quickly. I know red fades the most, but the grey gets me down!
Same with perms; they may not take well. Everyone is different, my hair was falling out right after the hyst, and is now back to normal. I even have rapid regrowth and my nails are nicer than before surgery!
I'd have the coloring, but don't be disappointed if it fades quickly or doesn't take well. Let us know??

I didn't go in for the coloring after all . It was my father-in-laws birthday and I was busy honoring him. It doesn't take much to make me tired, so making a birthday card (on the puter which took hours to perfect)and driving over to see him used up all my energies. I do value your input though and it will be useful for others to read I'm sure. I hadn't told my hair dresser that I would come in, just the opposite, so I didn't let her down. She was just hoping I'd change my mind. Her last words to me were to please come in even if it's at the last minute. Dang that would have been nice to have had free highlights, but timing was not on my side. Thanks again ladies for your input. My hair is in the red tones too, I may try carmel sometime myself./Sab
