Even after 11 weeks, be careful!

I am 11 weeks today. Had a TVH on August 15th. Did some heavy lifting over the weekend and boy, did I pay for it ! Felt like something was heavy and prolapsing again with some pains. Well, let me tell ya....no more lifting for me! I've taken it easy the last 2 days and am feeling much better, the weird feeling has subsided! Just be careful, we can still do damage to ourselves even after 11 weeks!

Even after 11 weeks, be careful!

I had a TVH 2 weeks ago and was told not to lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for 8 weeks. But now I'm wondering if 8 weeks is enough. How heavy was the thing you lifted?

Sometimes I take care of my parents (both in wheelchairs). My doc said that it would be OK to lift the wheelchairs (they weigh at least 35 lbs. each and I have to put them into the trunk of the car) after 8 weeks. But I'm nervous about it. I don't want to have to have more surgery. My uterus was very prolapsed and I don't want anything else to prolapse!

I also had a TVH and my doc. told me to be careful for the rest of my life. To try my best not to lift more than 30 pds. because the vagina walls could prolaspe. That would mean more surgery, so I try my best to be careful. It's not always possible but I do what I can.

I've always thought I was MIghty Woman...it was a small freezer. My husband and I carried it together, but it was too heavy for me to be carrying, no doubt.

I also had TVH with cuff suppension and rectocele. The doctor said do not lift anything over 15lbs. for at least 3 months. I am still having spotting and don't go back the the Dr. until six week checkup unless there is a problem. I find it very hard to sit still during the day and am probably overdoing it. I think the hardest part of this is not being able to keep the grandsons every weekend (I usually have them 5ys and 2ys old every Friday night since they were born). Very said about this. Good news tho, daughter is expecting little boy in January and I should be OK to help here. Blessings.

Congratulations, Nan! The night before my hysterectomy I found out that my son & daugher-in-law are expecting. This will be my first grandchild! The baby is due in June.

Yes you still need to be careful! My doctor told me 8 weeks to wait to pick up anything heavier than a milk carton. Well I decided to wait until 12 - low and behold at 11 1/2 weeks I started having stabbing pains for 3 days and my cystocele came undone or found a new way out. So here I am back in the same boat as before - having to pee all the time and having urgency problems and my bladder hanging down. I guess there is no guarantee.

I think it's very much a matter of how you feel and the physical fitness you were in prior to surgery. I'm 6 weeks post op this past Monday and have been released by my Dr. to do anything I'd like. I'm already back to running 2 miles and have carried boxes well over the 30 lb. mark (not that I want to carry heavy boxes . .lol)

I was a runner before my surgery so running comes natural to me. I was in good physical health prior to surgery and did everything pretty much by the book during my recovery - I think that helps as well. Anyway, just my 2 cents worth.

I hope my doc tells me never to vaccuum. LOL! I am 2 wks posp-op and that is one of his instructions that I don't mind.
