Questions about cystocele and rectocele

Still don't know if this is right, but I will give it a shot. I have had a hysterectomy, 3 bladder repairs. Now I find out I have a cystocele and a rectocele. Is there anyone there that can give me some insight into these problems or info on surgery. Thank you very much. Too new at this!!!!!

Questions about cystocele and rectocele

I had rectocele repair with my hysterectomy. I felt no pain with it at all. I didn't even feel anything, but that it had been fixed. Drink plenty of water and take stool softeners and fiber. Wishing you all the best. There are many women with cystocele advice here too and hopefully they will get back to you.

Questions about cystocele and rectocele

I had a rectocele repair and did find it painful. I would advise buying a donut cushion to make sitting more comfortable and for the first few days don't sit up too much. It was most comfortable lying back.

Questions about cystocele and rectocele

lynlyn,
Can I ask what exactly you had repaired in your "3 bladder repairs". The reason I ask is because a cystocele is a hernia of your bladder - so that would be considered a bladder repair. You can also have a bladder sling put in to stop leaking. If you want more information go to the left hand side of this web site and click the 3rd option down 'Resources' - then click the 3rd option down 'prolapses' there is a lot of information in there about cystocele and rectocele repair. I've already had one cystocele repair fail - so I am pushing for a repair with porcine mesh next time - as soon as I get the nerve. Good Luck to you - Keep us posted.

Questions about cystocele and rectocele

My Doctor called my repair an Anterior and Posterior Repair. Which is basically releasing part of the vaginal wall and tightening it with alot of sutures. My vagina and my bladder were close to prolapse and I had so much "loosenes" from my 4th degree tears from my first son who weighed 10 lbs. I found the surgery to be very painful. I did have three post op infections which probably made it worse. I agree definitely getting a donut, laying down ALOT and taking as may warm baths (after the Doc says you can). I ended up getting a "mass" at the suture line nearest the rectum area which turned out to just be scar tissue. Nonetheless, I couldn't sit down. If I would've listened to my Doctor and known about this website I think my experience would be better. I think you may only be getting one of the repairs I had. I probably shouldn't be giving advice when I''m not completely familiar with the terminology used here. Please pamper yourself, truly rest and let your body help to heal. Do not miss any of your stool softeners and fiber intake. The first hard bowel movement was horrible because pain killers tend to constipate you. I also had a hysterectomy and a bladder sling repair too. I thought the hysterectomy part was the easiest. One thing from reading all of these stories here, is everyone experiences something different. my email is <oops, email removed for privacy> if you have any questions or if I can help any further.

Hugs to you !!!!!!!
