Ovarian Cyst??

The continuing story of the severe pain I am in. I talked to my specialist yesterday, who has prescribed me with some stronger pain relief, which quite honestly, is not doing a thing to improve my pain. He has suggested one of two things...either I have a damaged muscle of some sort...or an ovarian cyst. Today is Saturday here in NZ..I am meant to see him today if things haven't improved..which they haven't.
I'm wondering if anyone can talk to me about Ovarian Cysts. I feel like it's coming from my LHS ovary. When I used to ovulate I used to get a severe pain in my LHS ovary which at times had me doubled over. And the pain I have now is in the LHS in the same region but is 10 times worse. Unless I lay flat on my back and don't move for at least 15 mins..then the pain subsides slightly..but the second I move it is agony...Can someone help me here??? I am getting so tired and upset with this pain......

I'your doctor

Hi

I know that ovarian cysts can be very painful, whether they are dangerous cysts or not. Most cysts are benign, but that doesn't mean they get to stay where they are. Sometimes cysts go away or get smaller and some kinds just continue to grow. Your doctor should be able to get information from an ultrasound or an MRI to tell what kind of cysts you have, if you have any, and then he can tell you more about what to expect.

I'm really sorry you're in pain. Have you tried hot baths and cold packs and heat packs? You never know just what might help pain. I find it's a trial and error thing. Is there anybody around to rub your back or your feet or whatever else feels like it needs rubbing?

Hang in and hopefully you'll at least get more information from your doctor.

Ovarian Cyst??

Hi Jilly....
I am so sorry that you are in pain. I had ovarian cysts, and they can be painful however I am a bit confused here and have some questions for you.
Did you have your surgery?? And if so, did the Doctor check your ovaries when he did the surgery?? It seems that they should have been detected then.
As Arctic says, an ovarian cyst can be detected through an ultra sound. I had a transvaginal, and an abdominal ultrasound. That is how mine was dected.
Please let me know how you are doing..
Love, Donna
