I'm Finally Scheduled

Finally!!! My surgery is scheduled. I've been waiting since October 12. Oh the torture!!

I had a not so good experience with my doctor's scheduler. Anyway, she said nothing to eat or drink twelve hours before. Surgery is scheduled for 9:00AM.
She didn't say anything about a bowel prep. I know this has been asked before but why do some have to do it and some don't? Don't get me wrong, I'm glad. But wonder why there's a differene?

You are right all surgeons are different and it's ok. My Gyn feels that you move gas and have a better bowel movement if there is something left in the in your colon. There is no right or wrong way just what your surgeon perfer to do. You didn't say anything about a pre-op, most surgeons request you have one that's when you would get information about bowel prep and eating instructions.

I'm Finally Scheduled

I just had my pre-op on Monday. I don't have to do any bowel prep or enima

I asked my doctor about it and she it wasn't necessary. Some doctors want it; some don't requir it. The only time I can remember doing an enima was when I had my gall bladder removed.

Oh... so the bowel prep might be assigned at preop?
Okay. I don't know when that will be. The hospital is supposed to call me.

They may do it differently in Indiana, but I got the call from my doctors office. I had to have the pre-op no more than 30 days from the date of surgery. I had my chest x-ray and EKG done prior to the appointment. On 12/3rd I'll have my blood work done. Surgery is 12/6th. I'm sure that's when I'll have the pregnancy test done.
