Looking at Supra Cervical

Hello everyone. This is my first post here...I'm so grateful to have found you! I have MANY questions and concerns. I just had my 2nd lap done for endo. The first was 2 years ago. My dr also now suspects adenomyosis. The pain and discomfort have reached the "intolerable" level and I have to do something! He is suggesting the Supra Cervical Hyst. He is the lead doctor at the University Hospital that I go to. This is his specialty. I am in favor of this procedure over all the others I have researched. I just have so many hesitations about the surgery in the first place! I'm almost 41, have had 3 children (and 2 step children), and have 5 grandchildren. I have the endo, my child bearing is over, and I do have some family history of ovarian and cervical cancer. My biggest questions is: do I leave the cervix or take it? And, the endo has been found mostly on my tubes and ovaries - just wonder if they will eventually become so diseased that they will have to be removed, too? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looking at Supra Cervical

Reenee,
You need to ask your dr about this...
I am going through the process of deciding on what hyster to get.. and hopefully my hmo can refer me to a dr that does this type of hyster. (actually I want a LSH)
When I was talking with my gyno the other day.. I asked her. "Is it true that some woman who leave cervix in could still have a tiny amount of spotting each month". (seems that sometimes... very rare.. blood will still collect at the top of cervix and make one spot a tiny amount).
I then went on to ask her... does that make one more prone to endo.
She said, that since I dont have a tendancy towards that I dont have to worry.
I did not explore this question more, because it didnt apply to me.
I would suggest you talk to the dr who really knows about these things.
Please be aware.. I am NOT a dr nor in the medical field... I am just telling you the brief conversation I had with my gyno about the chances of endo happening should blood still collect at the top of the cervix.
PLEASE PLEASE talk to you dr about this... I would hate for you to take my word and elect another route when this could very well be the right way for you to go.
(I personally am wanting to keep cervix... so would never want to discourage you from doing so)
take care
xo Donna
