6 days Post-Op: Question
Hi Ladies,
I had a vaginal/laparoscopic hysterectomy 6 days ago. I went into the surgery very anemic and had some blood loss during. I am very tired, and still nauseated on and off for some reason, but really don't have much pain in the three little incision areas. I don't need pain meds or even tylenol at this point. I am grateful. (Ovaries were left)
My question is, I know that internally everything is still swollen and I am guess that is the reason I feel some pressure when I urinate. I have read a few posts about ladies having their bladder drop. What is this all about and is there any way I can avoid this?
My hysterectomy was surgery #15 for me and the thought of having to have another to fix a dropped bladder gets me teary eyed.
Any suggesions ladies?
Thanking you in advance,
Marsha
So. Cal.
PS: I read a lot of posts prior to my hysterectomy and went into my surgery with peace of mind. Thank you to whom ever created this website.

6 days Post-Op: Question
HI,
I had an abdominal Hysterectomy Nov. 15th. Wow, I had no idea what I was going to be in for! It was an emergency procedure....I am sore and swollen. I am able to urinate pretty well. I had a bladder lift 2 years ago and it was a nightmare! I am a teacher and wound up going back to school with a catheter for 6 weeks. I think mine is a rare experience. At 44 I feel better about bladder control...during last weeks surgery the Dr. felt the bladder was strong and intact.
Maybe as you recover, your bladder will regain some strength!

Hi!
I had a TAH, but I can tell you that it took several weeks for my bladder to be "back to normal". For the first few weeks, I had to go potty every hour or two 'round the clock, but my bladder wasn't even full when I felt the urge. Gradually, things got better.
Any surgery, whether vaginal or abdominal, is a trauma to the area, which can change things temporarily.
If the pressure is enough to concern you, by all means discuss it with your doctor. I hope for you it's just a normal part of recovery.
